When you consider there are many ships smaller then, say, the TOS Connie (the TOS Connie was 290 m long while the Defiant is 120 m long) which have T4/T5 firepower size doesn't really seem to be relevant to the argument, IMO.

I personally don't believe Starfleet would build Replica ships, but Starfleet doesn't have to deal with Trekkers who want to fly their favorite ships in the game.

The assumption implicit in the "200 year old" argument is that even a new NX hull right out of the fleet yards made with modern materials, will be limited in that it wouln't incorporate the advances to hull geometry that have been devised over the intervening years, and that modern systems may not fit (it is a pretty small ship).
Hull Geometry, could be an issue. Not sure how though considering it's literally just an upside down Akira. There may be some amount of IC Technobabble to explain it. When I looked it up on M.A., I found that she's a bit bigger than a modern Defiant-class. These were the stats I found on Memory Alpha. I'm not arguing one way or another, not anymore. I'm just tossing these out here for the discussion

As for her size: NX-class
Length: 225 meters
Beam: 135.8 meters
Height: 33.3 meters
Mass: 80,000 metric tons
Decks: 7
Crew complement: 83

Defiant class:
Length: 119.5 meters
Beam: 90.3 meters
Height: 25.5 meters
Crew complement: ~50

Well I started with this ship right after the tutorial, changed the default cruiser to NX immediately. It does look good, but doesn't have the firepower to actually do anything, considering it's an escort class. Very, very limited, about on par with my new Danube runabout when it comes to firepower

They could have some kind of "federation refit program" where you choose your ship and pay...uhm.. dilithium? or some kind of premium currency to add slots/stations/whatever to it. That way anyone could basically fly their favorite ship as a T5.
Not likely to happen though. If it did, I'd take the Akira over the NX anyway.

I took an NX all the way to VA on Elite setting. My friend did the same with a TOS Connie. Many of the battles were quite difficult but my Engineer Captain made it through. Heck, my current alt is doing the first 10 levels on Elite in a Delta Flyer - and I might do more then 10 if the mood strikes me.

i got the this ship, i really enjoy having this ship but it's kinda useless if you are lvl 50, for example i could kill an mogai escort with my starter ship, but not with the NX, this is kinda disappointing, if i fight an mogai escort and some bird-of-prey ships with my NX ship it kills me withing 10 seconds with some torpedo's while i can kill it with my starter ship.

in the information in the stores it says that it was made for the current starfleet standarts, i think this isn't true, it got 85 crew, that's fine, but it should have some more weapon slots, this should have be, because the ship got in the series more weapons.

Not to intentionally disagree with you but the NX is equal or greater to the Miranda in every way except Crew. MIranda has 10k hull, the NX has 10k hull. The Miranda turns at 13, the NX turns at 14. The Miranda as 1 Tac Console, the NX has 2 Tac Consoles. The Miranda is +0 Weapons Power, the NX is +5 Weapons Power - plus the NX comes with the Grapple.

If you can defeat a Mogai in a Miranda there's no reason you can't do it in an NX, IMO. I've done it many, many times along with TrueWay, Hirogen, and even Borg.

Wow, I didn't know there were this many people thinking the same/similar.

@Cosmic I just made a new character the other day (I bought the game when it came out played for 2 months, then started again like 2 weeks ago) after I got my first toon to 50. I'm thinking I'm going to take the little NX to at least Captain just to prove I can do it.

I see where the people that support the 200 year old ship approach come from, alright, if they cannot put more modern stuff on it or more weapon banks (Even if it was just 1 or 2 more) why can't they make the Bridge Officer stations a higher rank? I mean Engineering Team 1, Em. Power to Shields 1, and Beam Overload 1 only go so far...

I really like that idea that you could spend Dilithium or C-Points to get it "upgraded" with better stuff and progress the ship and make it how you want it. I highly doubt Perfect World would do that though. Then again... it would make them some money if people started putting real money in to get the ship modified.

It takes some work, but I found it to be an interesting challenge.

The issue here is CBS, not Cryptic. Cryptic would happily sell you anything to make a buck. CBS doesn't want their IP polluted. They basically don't want a universe where an NX or TOS Connie is as good as a Sovereign or Odyssey. It's just not how they want their IP to function. Never say never, though.

Enterprise D from memory Alpha

The Enterprise-D carried twelve phaser arrays, three torpedo launchers, a supply of 250 photon torpedoes
so tier 4 should have what at least 8 fore and 7 aft weapon slots?

you can't equate cannon weaponry with the current system, it just wouldn't work

It would..if the arcs were setup properly.

Take the galaxy class for example, it apparently has 11 phaser arrays as standard.

http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Phaser_array

But I'd imagine it'd mean a pretty heavy overhaul to the firing arcs of every ship.
