I am a Tactical officer and have been using a Sao Paulo class for a while, but wanted to upgrade at RA I got the Sovereign instead of the Prometheus.

I wanted to know what y'all thought of the Retro Defiant vs the Retro Prometheus. I have already heard the suggestion of buying both Prometheus and putting the MVAM console on the RA version, so please pick your favorite Prometheus (WITH the MVAM console) and compare it to the Defiant...

I mainly play PvE and STF when not doing campaign missions.

They are both good. Since you are doing PvE, and STF's, I would go for the defiant. You don't need much healing in PvE, and the faster you kill things, the less healing you need.

Cool. So what makes the Defiant better for PvE? How does the Prometheus heal better?

I think you have that backwards...

The Defiant is better for PVP due to the cloak.

I fly the Defiant-R as my main ship, and I can tell you that it is a great ship for PvE.

If you are looking for a ship for specifically PvE though, I would just go with the advanced escort. Get yourself Polarized Hull 1, Science Team 1, Hazard Emitters 2, and you are prepared for everything PvE can through at you.

All the Escorts work great for PVE. But the Defiant refit is the best for PVP, so I tend to recommend buying that for C-points over the MVAM.

The MVAM is fun to use in PVE due to the multiple "pets" and can be fun to use in other situations too, but its more of a gimmick than something absolutely useful like the Cloak on the defiant.

Kinda looking around and planning ships for my Klingon alt - is it just me or is the 1600 c-point Defiant-R with a cloak console fitted just a squishier free-to-RA Qin Raptor with a turn rate console fitted, or does that better inertia make that much of a difference in maneuverability?

Tactical Retrofit is good for damage, and the MVAE is good for science stuff like healing and debuffs. If you want to fly a fleet support ship that can heal shields and throw enemies around, go for the MVAE. If you want a ship that can kill a lot of enemies really fast, then go with the TER
