# 1 Tactical Retrofit Boffs
03-05-2012, 06:58 AM
Im pretty new to this game and have levelled up far faster than my skill and understanding of this game and have a few questions:-

I bought the t5 defiant and 4 more bridge officer slots so I can have skills in my 2 choosen ships.

So for my defiant im figuring this:-

Eng Lt :-
Emergnecy Power to shields
Reverse Shield Polarity
Sci Lt :-
Hazard Team
Science Team

Tacticals will include:-
Tactical Team
Torpedo High Yield
Torpedo Spread
Cannon Rapid Fire
Cannon Scatter Volley
Attack Pattern Alpha
Attack Pattern Omega
(One more i think not sure)

So does that sound like a good set up or does someone have any better ideas/suggestions.

My next problem is i dont really understand how to train them in what i want, do I buy them with the skills or do i train them up, im a little confused...

I would change the following

Eng Lt :-
Emergnecy Power to shields
Reverse Shield Polarity

I would substitute one of the above with Engineering Team 1 or 2. With you Eng and SCI set up, it looks like you have alot of focus on shield heal, and not much on hull heal.

I'm not too sure what to tell you about the Tac powers, I've actually never used the t5 defiant, but I know with a cannon on an escort set up the following will defiantly be your friend (I use these on my MultiVector)
Tactical Team
Torpedo Spread
Cannon Rapid Fire
Cannon Scatter Volley
If you can get your hands on Torpedo Spread 3 (the BOFF reward from 4208 Mission) you could deliver a serious blow. As for high yield, I would personally only use that if I was using Tricobalt.

To answer you question about training your boffs, you can either train them yourself with abilities you unlocked through skills tree (depending on your career path of course), or you can purchase Boff's off the exchange.

Maybe someone can correct me or add to this. I know there are people on here that have much, much more experience then I do lol

thx,

The hazard team on the sci slot will repair the hull, i seem to be able to manage with just that so i figured, in combat first take damage, then tactical team, then emergency power then reverse polarity, rinse and repeat as needed. If theres any damage hazard team and if im screwed i run like hell

Yes i might drop high yeild it was more of an after thought with a free slot.....

You want two Tactical Teams.

And you want to cycle between the two pretty much the entire round of combat.

It provides an instant shield redirection on the side that is receiving damage. Much better than distribute shields (though, you should be using that as well).

If you want the Commander level 3 skills, you can either purchase one that has the skill, or train them from your skill unlocks.

However, if it's anything below that, you can train it at the skill trainers for boffs.

ooh i like that, that was my next question can i have 2 of the same skills,

might change my tact skills list knowing that:-

Tactical Team
Tactical Team
Torpedo Spread
Cannon Rapid Fire
Cannon Scatter Volley
Attack Pattern Alpha
Attack Pattern Omega

I think i have 8 slots with the t5 defiant so I have one left spare, any suggestions?

Also to recap, I will buy the eng and sci officers off the exchange and train the tacs as im a tac VA, is that right?

Cheers guys for the help im learning loads

The colors just mean Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, which comes with extra passive abilities that could help you out in either space or ground

And for your space tac ability, do another Scatter vollet or Rapid fire, that way you can use that power again in 15 seceonds as apposed to waiting 30 seconds..My tac has to Scatter Volley's for that purpose

I'll start this by saying that I don't own and have never used a Fed Escort, my experiance comes from KDF BoPs, but the principle is the same.

It really depends on what you are wanting to do, be it PvP or PvE, STF, Grind, Solo etc.

If it was me, (and It will be this evening when I buy the Defiant-R).

Cmd Tac: - TT1 / CRF1 / HYT3 / APO3
Lt. Cmd Tac: - TT1 / CRF1 / HYT3 (Could Sub in BO1 for TT1)
Ens Tac: - BO1
Lt. Eng: - EPtS1 / RSP1 (Could Sub in ET1 for EPtS1)
Lt. Sci: - TSS1 / HE2

Tac. Console: - 4xPhaser (example) Relay
Eng. Console: - Neutronium / EPSx2
Sci. +35% Shield + something

2xDual Heavy Cannons, 1xDBB, 1xQuantum
3xTurrets (All energy weapons need to be the same type)

Rolfstomp everything.
