What would be good weapons to put on this ship.

What weapons would work well against the borg in STFs.

Most people seem to kit Odesseys out as beam boats, given their rather sluggish turn rates.

I hear that anti-proton is all the rage, so aim for anti-proton beam arrays.

I've been running a modified version of this build and have been very succesful with it in pve elites and pvp so far. It's a good solid build very tanky and decent dps for a cruiser.

For pvp I take away the engineering team and replace it with a second RSP, I also run Transfer shields 1 and 2 and use Attack Pattern Beta for added dps. Mounting all antiproton is best, but I have run it with All Phasers . Just dont mix your beam types ( as I have seen some do ) and your dps is good enough to add well to a group especially if you happen to be a tactical .

Tetryons are also kick-@$$ weapons on an Odyssey (or any other high-end cruiser for that matter). Just be sure you have a mix of arrays (both fore and aft, for grinding down shields even while you're turning, as well as "flyswatter" duty against small craft, heavy torps and mines), beams and cannons (for doing serious forward damage) and a 360-degree turret if you can get one (aft, for the same purpose as the arrays). If you use a torp launcher, put it aft, so that you can continue to deal damage even while your beams and cannons are pointed the "wrong" way.

My Odyssey has one array fore and two aft, as well as an aft turret. Those are my shield-grinders/flyswatters. A dual beam and cannon up front are my main weapons. All of the above are tetryons. Finally I have two quantum torpedo launchers, one fore and one aft, to finish off ships after my tetryon weapons have brought down their shields.

I struggled with my eng 'dessy in STFs for a while, until a genial idea hit me - flying something else. An escort mainly, as DPS is what counts there, but even a Sovereign works fine. PUGs love me a lot more since than.

And I'd go with cannons on a cruiser - you can go close without fear, and the AI doesn't really try to outmanuver you.

Whatever suits your playstyle. It can take a while to get used to the slow turn rate on an Odyssey or a Dreadnaught, but once you do the ship can contribute greatly to any STF with sustained DPS that sometimes makes for better dps than the TAC. If you can keep your tac up long anough then fine, otherwise the survivability of the Cruiser + a few tricks can make for a better combination. But as I said, all acocrding to your playstyle. I haven't seen a build that equals teh Dragon build on this ship yet.

I used my Odyssey as a polaron beam boat, but to be honest, the power drain of 7 beams firing just turned my ship into a floating light show, with the turn rate of a brick in sand and all the damage of a water pistol.

I replaced a couple of the fore beams with dual beam banks, and replaced an aft beam with a torp launcher, and it seems better.

I think that I made a good version.

My Odyssey class (Kan Kithomer) carry six phaser mkXII and 2 Photon torp mkXII

Omega Shield and deflector mk XII and dominion engine (only for take a bit more of speed).

Eng. consoles one eps and three plasma relay (to raise a bit the maximun energy to weapons).

Sci. consoles a colimator (to raise the secundary damage from omega set and tachion ray) the borg universal console (a bit of all, but mainly for the +5 to weapon energy) and the +35% shield console.

Tac. consoles two of phaser damage.

On skills, I forget my traditional loadouts....
on tactical 2 tactical teams. On enginering one emergency to shield 1, one emergency to engine 1, 2 dampening fields (to upgrade the speed and turn capacities from odyssey) one emergency to shield 3, aceton "ray" lt commander level and commander level reverse shield polarity. on science I flight with polarized hull and hazard systems 2 and tachion ray 1

Also important, the char with that confing is a science officer and I set 3 "ten of ten" boff to upgrade the rate or recharge from torp.

The Kan Kithomer can turn and generate great damage stay close from cubes and tactical cubes survive a lot.... in the future, with one odyssey with anoter office slot (if exist one version to that), the two tactical teams will be level 1, and has level 2 i will take torpedo spread II or target to (weapons or shields II).... I think.

Normaly I use beam overload 1 and THY 2 and I correct the shield status... but with odyssey I need that corrections will be made from officers, and I need haven't any additional teams (nor science and eng). To use, emergency to shield, I cant set too many emergency, (dampening not interfiering with that) and the only problem with "double" use come from polarized hull and hazard systems (they use the same "system" and one of them "disable" the other for a short period of time.

Of course, my variant is a single posibilities of many... but from all tested by me, it is the most useful for that character (Saavick) (I have another versión from a tactical officer, but I use another config (if use one of them with the another char, the result isn't "too good"... for now....

Thanks to everybody for the fun, sorry for my bad english.

True that the drain of seven beams is huge, but run your weapons at 90% or more and run two eptw with weapon batteries on hand and I am almost never running less than 124% power . This means Iyou can do very respectable dps all of the time. Two eptw can keep energy boosted with only seconds in between the next refresh. Single beams hit Borg hulls for over 1000 per hit and up to 2000 or more per hit ( non critical) with all tac buffs running. I run a single Tricobalt Torpedo up front and I never have power issues on my Odyssey but my light show hurts and I am hard to kill. Check the Dragon build out for yourself
