# 1 A new BOP in the future?
03-07-2012, 12:40 AM
I like my B'rel, and have a comfortable setup for it to be certain. But it is a Retrofit, and things must be advanced in the future. The Fed's have their Tac retrofit, but they also have their MVAM and if I understand correctly a new Escort is in the works. Anything coming out in the future for Birds of Prey?

Yup HeghTa retrofit is coming.

Not sure about its advantages.

But I think it will be set as the same ship level as the HeghTa if I'm not wrong. So the B'rel will continue to be the only Lt. General Birds of prey in the Klingon arsenal.

btw just because the name is B'rel retrofit and its design/looks is the B'rel it doesn't mean it's a B'rel. The added advantage makes it really the best [imo] Birds of prey in game.

1. Tighter turn radius.
2. Enchanced battle cloak gives you a small option to harass with your torpedo while remaining relatively safe.
3. You can use most [non offensive] bridge officers abilites while cloaked
4. Very small crew of 30 makes a rapid recovery to both hulls and crews complement thus the B'rel retrofit can rejoin battle in the shortest amount of time with no penalty to having depleted crews.

It's really not a B'rel.
Personally I like the fact that while it is not a B'rel in terms of its capability being much superior it does look exactly like one. I love it because it looks exactly like a B'rel.

What? really? Awsome. Do you have a source? The Hegh'ta is still my favorite. Do you have a source for that?

I'd love to see it set itsself more appart from the B'rel. May be more hull/less turn rate. The ingame Hegh'ta model is prety big ship, (bigger then most of the escorts) its actual abilitys IMO do not fit its appearence at all.

Not sure whats the point of having the same ship twice in the exact same area, but since I want to see all t5s balanced I wont complain^^

Well what is a B'rel for you?
The "fairytale" of the B'rel beeing the fighter-like small BOP from DS9 came from some RPGs and the Activison games, the actual ONLY time we saw BOPs adressed as B'rel was Rascals, and that was stock footage from the only time we saw BOPs adressed as K'vort in yersterdays Enterprise. And those were cruisers. So the B'rel in canon is actually a prety big but outdatet ship.

*Note NeghVar refit, Raptor refit are also coming/planned.

Hmm personally I prefer the B'rel looks over the Heghta.

And I love equipping my B'rel with nothing but cannons and a torpedo. It's like saying RAAWRR everytime you fire everything at something

I love the B'rel for sentimental reasons due to familiarity to it from the movies and tv series. And I love it in game because it can perform pretty well.

The source given there is from October last year, I'm not sure if its still up-to-date, many things and prioritys shiftet since then..
Would be nice to get a Dev-confirmation if that is still on progress^^

About the B'rel.... well I used to love the original BoP design, although I prefered the light cruiser (K'vort) over the smaller ones.
Actually that very ship is the reason I became a Star Trek fan in the first place.

Still: I kind of fell in love with the "Original" Hegh'ta (the one we got at release not the version it was pityfully changed to) and will keep flying it until the server shuts down.

They could implement the K'Vort. Its the one from the alternative future from TNG where the Enterprise C did not save the klingon outpost. Those looked a lot like Brels but they where a lot larger and stronger.

Again, the only ships adressed as B'rels we EVER saw were stock footage from that alternate "present" (not future) K'vorts shown in Yesterdays Enterpise, for that matter the actual "B'rel" is a large scaled BoP (the only small type BoP that even got a classification was the D12).

Also, the K'Vort class EXISTS in the normal timeline, although only proven by some display shown in DS9 that used this classification for a Bird of Prey. But still, canon is canon^^

I believe no plans for the future now can currently be read as actual. In the original F2P blogs the kdf were also supposed to get the Negh'var refit as part of their lineup but when captain-geko was questioned on this (priority one iirc) he said no way was it happening as the kdf were already 'ahead of the curve' in their ship lineups. Apart from the cripple due in shortly (Bortas) we will not see any new ships for the foreseeable future.
