So as you all know, we have 3 variants of the Odyssey -class coming in the next week or so on the C-Store. One of the variants will enable Saucer Separation. However, I have a question regarding whether or not you need to purchase it to use the Saucer Separation if you already have the free version of the Odyssey-class.
As you may or may not know, there are two versions of the MVAM available in STO. One you pay for with Dilithium, the other, C-points. The dilithium bought version does not come with the MVAM console, the C-point one, does. HOWEVER, if you happen to own both, you can interchange the MVAM console between them which allows the dilithium bought version to have MVAM capabilities.
My question is this: will this work for the free Odyssey-class as well? I current own the Galaxy-class retrofit w/Saucer Separation console. Once the Odyssey-class is given that capability, will I be able to move my Saucer Separation console to my Odyssey and enable Saucer Separation or will I also have to buy the C-store variant?
I also have the same question in regards to the upcoming Galaxy-X saucer separation. Will the Galaxy's saucer separation console be interchangeable with all ships that can separate, regardless of which variant you own (i.e. free, dilithium, or c-points)?
Q: (General_Devon) When the new Odyssey and Bortas ships are released in the C-Store, will those who received the ship for free during the anniversary event, get these new versions for free as well?
Dstahl: The new ships being released in the C-Store are premium versions of the ship that were given out during the 2nd Year Anniversary event. They will contain alternate configurations and abilities and will be different than the free ship that was given out. All players will need to purchase these additional variants if they want the new configurations.
It is my understanding that the Odyssey (and Bortas) are getting ONE c-store version each which will contain all the special features.
The Odyssey is known to have saucer sep, aux craft, and the ability to separate while moving which is new compared to other saucer sep ships. It is also assumed it will continue to have advanced transwarp ability.
I am not aware of any other variants, much less three additional variants. Please state your source or clarify.
There may be other improvements we don't know about. I'm sure full details will be released in a week or so.

As long as I can get the saucer sep and the aux craft on my odyssey without sacrificing too much in other console functionality, i'll still be happy. If I can't, this is disturbing news.
well as long as we can purchase all three and combine the abilities into one ship by moving the consoles (in a similar fashion as buying both of the defiants and getting the cloak), i'll be happy.
Once again, disturbing news if that isn't possible.
I've been watching twitter for weeks now and seeing talk of saucer sep+aux craft and this is the first i've heard mention they split it. no idea what would make them do that.

The fact that they can sell 2, or possibly all 3, copies of the Odyssey to a single person made them do it. Even if they're only 1,200 CP (and I'm expecting them to be more like 1,600 CP) many players will buy 2 and spend $30.00, and quite a few (the completists) will buy all 3 for $45.00.
A lot about these new variants has been said in the recent Priority One podcast, during the interview with Bran_Flakes.
Basically:
3 versions of the same ship - tactical, engineering, science;
Each with its own unique console - Saucer Sep, Escort pet, Worker Bees (don't know which comes with which variant);
All consoles can be put on one variant, but it's unknown if the abilites can all be activated at the same time;
These new consoles are not going to work with the free Odyssey;
Like most of the +1 variants, the ships will get an additional console slot. There was also something about a universal boff slot (I guess the ensign science will become ensign universal);
Ship costume is going to be a little bit different than the free one, but there won't be any other difference between the three variants in that manner;
Cost is uknown, but considering how powerful this ship is going to be, I wouldn't hope on less than 2000 CP each... Unless they're going to sell them in a bundle or something.
If I'm wrong about any of these feel free to correct me, but these are the things I recall from the interview.
