Ah, but there's the problem... which one of the three? As an engineer who flew a Sovereign for almost forever, the Tac Odyssey is looking pretty darned good.... I severely doubt everyone else feels the same.

That's the point of my statement. Allow us an option to pick a variant of the ship, and receive all the consoles. Charge extra for it, fine, but give us options instead of forcing us to buy ships many people don't have slots for because they don't even allow you to have as many slots as there are ships in game.

Overall quite powerful. If I wasn't mildly irritable -- something I acknowledge is probably outdated and past due for retirement -- about Pay For Power, I'd be salivating over these ships. They really are quite groovy.

Five consoles in one area? That's... twitchifying. In fact that borders on the kind of ugly. No real hiding the Pay For Power here, is there? Not that you released this for constructive criticism, but: I understand there's only so many ways to make a ship 'better' and more desirable, but I think this might be going a bit far. On the other hand, it kind of makes some sense. A LOT of powers are being released as consoles now. Which honestly I'm kind of in favor of. More console slots does mean more powerful weapons/stats/etc, but also means more special powers, which does make sense. QX, I think this is... tentatively not horrible. Still kind of sad to see STO continue in this direction, but this does make sense from a 'console powers' perspective.

But, reading on... A 'set bonus' for all three consoles? Really? What's the purpose of that? I'm serious: What was the thinking behind this, please? Because I don't get it. I'd like to understand this before flying off on baseless ranting. =)

Other issues, like pay-2-win and such aside for a moment, but wasn't there a big stink not long ago about the Odyssey and the Bortas not being any good in comparison to the current tier 5 ships? That something called a "flagship" and the "pinnacle" of technology was severely lacking? It would now seem people have issue with it being the other way round now?

I don't but I think there needs to be a way to bring things up to par for other ships or they will become obsolete.

At the very least, I think there's now a case for taking the grab bag ships and ships that cost 1600 C-Points and up and tossing them an extra console slot.

Here you go, as promised - full detailed specs on the upcoming Advanced Odyssey and Bortasqu' ships. We are hoping to get these ships onto tribble Monday or Tuesday next week for testing and feedback. As always, all stats are not final, and subject to change at any time.

  • There are 3 new Advanced Odyssey Cruisers and 3 New Bortasqu' Battle Cruisers.

We will eventually start working on upgrading the other ships once we are certain this new tech is solid.
  • Each ship comes with its own special console. These consoles may be equipped on any of their sister ships, in any console slot. They may not be equipped on the standard models or any other ship. Each is part of a Set. The 3 piece set bonus:
    • Decreases the recharge time of the set console abilities
    • Bonus Skill Stats (Odyssey: Starship EPS, Starship Hull Plating, and Starship Armor Reinforcements Skills. Bortasqu': Starship Targeting Systems, Starship Energy Weapon Specialization, and Starship Energy Weapon Specialization Skills)
    • Slight increases your ship's Turn Rate.

Odyssey Operations Cruiser:

My take from this is if your gonna give them versions then go all out.
1. Personally id set the powers for each ship alittle different to and also take out the 3 science consoles on the tac odd and make it 4 tac to give us alittle more damage compared to the tac version of the bortas.

2. Also why does the klingon ships get universal lt and feds get universal ensigns, hoping thats a mistype.

3. Dont like the consoles being a set bonus unless its done like another poster suggested and instead of selling each ship with a console you instead sell each ship slightly cheaper then a normal 1600 cpoint cost of vice admiral ship and sell the consoles in a set by themselves.

4. Sensor analysis on the science ones seem to be alittle extra boost to them is there gonna be plans to give tac and eng versions something extra too?

Would also like to hear if theres atleast future plans to bring the other tier 5 ships like the Dreadnaught i purchased recently up to having the extra console these are coming with. Costing 2000 cstore points and now being in some ways out matched by the new variants here seems alittle out of touch with your consumers. Though to be honest i think if your gonna give these ships 10 console slots that all existing tier 5 should be given an extra universal slot or atleast the other Vice admiral ships seeing as you also now have to pay for them and they are holding the same rank requirement as these ships do.
