To be fair, I don't think the ships will be $100 each. I realize people paid that much and more for the bugship and the Galor, but they do have to take a different tack with the C-Store transactions. I can see them being $25 each, maybe $30.
No, Cryptic, this is not a game of 'Prove me wrong,' thanks! :p
I can honestly say that the 25 dollars for the Dreadnaught is high. Saying that i really doubt that Id be willing to shell out more then that for just about any ship they could make. Truefully if it were more that would probably send me the message that STO is going with the take all you can while their willing to pay it and it would end my willingness to play this game. The 1600 cstore for the tier 5 ships should be more then enough for any ship they make and honestly i think its really to high of an asking price for a virtual property in a game that by all mmo standards could end tomorrow.
With that in mind id say a fair price is at the same price as other Vice admiral ships of about 1600 cstore points. Also though i believe the consoles should be sold without the need to buy the ship itself for around 600-800 points. I can see whereas it being Free to play now that putting up stuff in the Cstore is their main cash revenue but at the same time it should also be considered that this game still has a gold membership and as such anymore then what the usually ship cost is shouldnt be acceptable.
Honestly when you have these kind a item shops i really disapprove of anything that is itself game changing as far as combat goes and Sto has really been pushing my tolerance of that with all the plus ones and the new consoles that give advantages against those not willing to pay. Items like new costumes are fine. Pets and even unlocking certain species for play. Combat devices are not a great way to make money as you leave out a certain amount of your games playerbase.
I really fear that they are gonna keep with the tread of pushing new better items that give actual combat advantages to players willing to pay.
If you read or look closely at those stats each one pretty much covers a base of what most of us on the bortas threads found we didn't like for each class it covers each class where it could potentially use it for any class.
The only issues I have is what exactly is the disruptor autocannon and also will this bird of prey be useing what we know as transphasic torpedos or will there be a change upcoming with this to transphasics that was discussed along the lines of higher damage/higher cool down on them?
The snare I can already see that being very useful especially in Elite STF's just those other two I am iffy about them and what they actually do.
Although I already have some setups in mind for the day I can afford to get all 3 of them that I could use LOLs. I'm pretty sure though it'll be after christmas before I get them if they are like most ships being around 1600 c-points per ship.
6. Have anyone given any thought to including the HoH'SuS BoP and Aquarius Escorts as independently flyable ships, when you purchase the Bortasqu' War Cruiser and Odyssey Tactical Cruiser ? This would be similar to how we received the Tal'Kyr (Vulcan Support craft) when we purchased the D'Kyr Science Vessel.
I have. I really want this. I've actually been making inquiries about it, made a thread on the subject matter (search for "Aquarius-class") and poked at CaptainGeko about it over Twitter from time to time (he's been pretty tight-lipped, though! ^_^; ).
I kind of doubt it's something more than an NX Replica, from the weapon and console loadout announced. It would be a pretty spiffy shuttle, though! (it'd probably stand out for having one extra weapon slot to fit quad cannons, turret and quantum launcher)
Hence, even if we do get it, it'd likely not be anything more than useable as a credible starter ship (whether implemented as a light escort, or a shuttle).
The Aquarius is bigger than either a Jem'Hadar Fighter or a Bird of Prey at around 140 meters in length.
Shuttles are out of scale but the rest of the ships are in scale and the Aquarius has a fixed relationship to the Odyssey.
Depending on how many decks it has, you could cram 20 shuttles inside an Aquarius.
If it's a shuttle... It's the carrier of shuttles.
the Aquarius cant be 140 m, the defiant is only 120m. the Aquarius proboly has about the same volume of a brel, but i have a feeling its even more tactical focused then a canon bop.
with the stats i proposed its almost as good as a tier 3 ship in practice, though its a total glass cannon. making it considered a shuttle by the game engine would allow it to be run in shuttle missions, that would be fun to steam roller through. you wouldn't really have a reason to use it if you couldn't use it on shuttle missions.
