And it's a design choice that can be altered; not by making Science Vessels and Cruisers more powerful but by altering the simplistic idea that only DPS matters in STFs.

A lot of people already spent 200 bucks or so for a Galor. And the bug ship before that. I don't know, I think the "set bonus" will entice a good chunk of players.

I also think the Tactical Odyssey will rise to the top of preference in what people do fly.

But when all is said and done, it's just not that big a deal for me. I'll be still flying my gimp Assault Cruiser. I don't have the money for this ship, and am not really a fan of the idea of pay to win. But I am happy to see the Excelsior finally get replaced. So I'm ambivalent.

Tempting to save up and buy all 3, but hard to say which i would choose...sensor analysis is a 33% damage buildup but has some annoying draw backs, where the tac would be a 26% bonus to beams only. Hard to choose IMO...

Until I see what all the 'Chevron Separation' does I'm going to reserve full judgement, but right now I'm inclined to agree that the Tac looks far superior. It's not the consoles really, the Oddy's a tank through and through and any of the three will allow you to do this fairly effectively regardless. It's the Aquarius Escort that gets me really. This sucker has quads, PDL, and quantums. Unless the 'Chevron Seperation' (Which is still questionable as to whether it's a pet as CaptainGecko did not claim as such in his post, but I think it's reasonable to assume as such) boosts your weapons power and speed greatly without a major drawback there's no reason to really get it. A fifth engie console doesn't make up for it by itself. I can drop the Aqua in a Sci spot along with the borg and a 33% shield boost, 4 armors and such for Engineering, and at least two of whatever energy type in tac, along with the flat beam boost console (The name escapes me for the moment) or maybe a third energy type or torp upgrade depending on how they stack and whether or not I have a tric in my build.

The Transwarp Gateway could out turn an Oddy, there's plenty of room left for the other ships. Well except for the Galaxy-R, unless they feel kind and give her something else.

I'm not gonna agree that the Tac version is the best until I see the cooldown times and fragility/efficacy of the Aquarius. Given the prevalence of AOE, the Aquarius may be the most stupid buff of the three.

already planned on getting one now i am thinking of getting 2

the engineering and tactical versions and using the tactical hull with both consuls

really comes down to cost though

My question is thus: if I shell out mony for the tac cruiser, can I use just the aux craft as an Escort in the same manner as my Defiant?
