My review of the "2800" featured episodes...

Even though the equipment was neat, the overall scope of the "2800" series was lackluster and boring. Many-many missed opportunities, some annoying game play moments, and horrible voice acting and voice synchronization. Finally, the Enterprise showing up took away your character's importance. Why couldn't I have been promoted to captain of the Enterprise? Since I was the one who spent hours behind the keyboard, why couldn't the end goal be to obtain the Enterprise?

The end.

The thing about the final mission that boggled my mind was this.

Its a space walk. Made using the same engine as Champions Online and by the same people. Why it doesn't mimic flight in that game I have no idea. Seemed like a good opportunity to actually add something to the STO engine that made it stop feeling like a web-browser game.

I assume they wanted that feeling of clanking around on the hull wearing magnetic boots, which they captured spot on. I would have preferred free-movement reaction thrusters, but they explained it and I moved on.

What I don't get is why people think an actual firefight under those circumstances would have been fun. Sure, I was kind of expecting it, but trying to fight when you can barely move would not have been all that satisfying and I was dreading it once I realized the movement limitations.

Now, what I really want to see is a PvP map based on THAT with free-movement reaction thrusters on the suits. With Extreme Knockback. And floating bodies in spacesuits after a battle.

Enjoyed your review. I must add these caveats:

I did not like the "Hollywood' ending to the FE. The Dominion just goes home and everyone is alright with everyone else? Nope, nope, nope. There should have been a fade-out and a short scene showing a harbinger of things that might come in the future. It would have gave time for the Dev team to think up whatever they wanted to do and they wouldn't have been pressed for time.

Of Bajor? IA, a complete waste of time for this storyline, but I do really dig that they created such an impressive looking city.

It's just me, but since Data is an android, I was really hoping that he would have been the captain of the Enterprise-F.

You should write reviews like this much more often. i would read them every single time. Impressive work indeed.

I didnt like the last one, having to revive myself that many times, on the lowest setting, shouldnt be legal.

well, i would have to agree with the OP on this one. i was so disappointed with this episode. all that time and THIS is what they came up with? ack. a good friend and i ran this together and he was just as let down as i was.

the basic story concept was good. but delivery fell way short. i will say that the maps of ds9 exterior, bajor and the prison were pretty good. i did like the space walking even though it felt kinda pointless.

bad voice acting, plot holes that you could drive the enterprise thru was just a disappointment. arent the writers trek fans? dont they do any research for the episodes? however, i do appreciate all the work that went into its development..and we cant hit home runs all the time. heres hoping they knock it out of the park next time.

oh...and what did happen to data?

What I don't understand, is how the writing of these episodes is so dreadful, because it really is dreadful

And yet, earlier, normal missions, such as the devidian series, were great.

At this rate, it might save cryptic time and money, to perhaps get community members here, to submit storylines for future FE episodes, because this latest one was just awful in terms of story and writing.

The voice acting was pretty dire, so maybe it might be worth paying for professional voice actors in the future, or better yet, have community members submit their voices for possible inclusion in FE missions.

STO deserves better.

Well, here is a positive suggestion.

Set up a forum for Star Trek fans to submits stories. The very same thing was done with TNG, DS9, VOY & Ent. That's how Ron Moore got his foot in the door. You don't have to have had played the game before. Fans can vote, and those getting some good buzz can get forwarded to the Dev team. maybe we would have some more pleasing FEs if that or something like it would occur.
