Any opinions so far?

I thought the extra +7.6 polaron damage would be similar to the Omega set's Tetryon bonus damage. But, some have said otherwise and that it's like the Breen set. Which is correct?

Oddly enough, despite having the same impulse speed as the MACO, my actual impulse speed is almost 2 more than with the Jem'Hadar engines equipped.

Seems like this set would be more suited for Science characters.

Now that's totally overpowered.

But seriously, it looks like Dominion Synergy applies to polaron weapons only. You won't see phasers, disruptors or antiprotons doing polaron damage with this set, which makes it utterly worthless to most players. Antiproton Sweep is far too situational to be consistently useful. "Victory is life" is a painfully weak ability in itself. 2.5% chance to strip a buff? Lol.

The only way this set will be remotely good is if the Jem-Hadar shields have an insane bonus like a 20% reduction to all incoming damage.

Let me put it this way: I have 9 characters, and I always try to have at least one character who uses exciting new FE-gear. I have a Defiant with the Breen set, transphasic cluster torpedos and the cloaked tractor mine layer, I have someone who actually uses the Reman BO in his away team etc. I have no character I can see getting any benefit from this set. Most have Engine power boosted over 50 and Weapon Power already at 125 which makes the engines useless. Even if I would seriously consider it it rubs me the wrong way that it

a) Tries to make me spend tons of dilithium to get a full set of Polaron weapons.
b) Basically has a 4-part set bonus I can't get without taking part in their stupid Christmas grab-bag scheme.

Look on the bright side guys, at least they are starting to release equipment sets with bonuses. The fact that the bonuses might not be as useful as we like is moot.

That being said, I don't especially find the STF sets to be that useful in doing what they were designed to do, fight the borg.

Season 6 comes in June, expect great things to happen.

A couple of things I'd like to point out, not that they make your conclusion false...

More power to weapons is always good as a set bonus, regardless of what level you keep your weapon power at. Why? Because you can simply reduce your max weapon power preset and dump the extra 5-10 energy in another system like shields while maintaining the ever-important 125 weapon power in a fight.

You don't need tons of dilithium to get a full set of Mk XI purple polaron weapons. They're the cheapest weapon type on the exchange because nobody bothers to use them because their special proc is useless.

I can't really argue with this except to say that the fourth bonus is such a big pile of useless fail anyway that it doesn't really matter if you don't have it.

Uiltimately though, this set is crappier than Aegis and possibly worse even than the Breen set. The shield stats will be the deciding factor.

That's because none of them have the only bonus that's necessary against elite Borg: Immunity to the Tactical Cube 300k damage killshot.

Everything else is easily survivable even in basic gear if you're in a good team.

The tanking bonuses from Dominion Synergy are nice, with four Neutronium engineering modules, a trio of tanking abilities, I've got my Odyssey capable of spiking to almost 58% resists with it.

The engine's better than MACO MK XI for maneuvering (though moving at Warp 10 hurts a bit, been spoiled by transwarp).

The deflector is nice, though it requires giving up some tanking bonuses from the MACO deflector.

To me, this thing is shaping up to be an Escort oriented set.

I would assume it's Escort orientated as the only Jem ship that's playable is the ultra-rare attack ship and let's face it, it's meant to go on a Jem ship.

Dominion Synergy doesn't improve tanking at all. It improves polaron damage and resistance to energy drain.

Also, four Neutronium? Are you nuts? Might want to put something else in there like an EPS regulator for all those beam arrays?

Where maneuvering is concerned, the ship you use is more important than the engine. A galaxy class with the Jem-Hadar engine is not going to be more maneuverable than if it had a MACO engine. Likewise a Defiant with a MACO engine won't really be more sluggish than one with a Jem-Hadar engine.

Also, swap to borg engine for sector travel.

Jem-Hadar deflector gives you:

+ flow capacitors
+ countermeasure system

MACO deflector gives you:

+ Shield Emitters
+ Structural Integrity
+ Shield System

Jem-Hadar deflector beats the Absolute Zero deflector. Doesn't hold a candle to the MACO or even the Aegis deflector. Jem Hadar set seems to be good as a stepping stone set for players working on getting the bigger better STF gear.
