I just completed assignment 2 "Recover Scientist from Dominion Prison Camp" in the Project Chrysalis chain with a critical success and to my surprise I received a whopping 7,235 espionage points and with the 20% CXP boost for a total of 8,682 points. I also received 2 contrabands to go along with 125 dilithium ore. Heretic, this isn't a bug right? If not these assignment chains are incredible!
Criticals on rare chain assignments with heavy numbers of pluses can get pretty high, though that does sound on the high end. I will check it out to see if there are issues, but it may be within expected bounds.
I'm not sure which mission it was, but I received over 10k Espionage CXP for one on a crit. (I THINK it may have been the one mentioned by the OP). When I did the quick math though, it seemed legit seeing as how I had put mostly purples with crit traits and have a CXP booster active.
Please keep these high CXP missions around. If anything, they should take longer time, not less rewards.

Its doable. I'm able to get almost 8K Mil XP by slotting 5 Purples and critting an Offensive.
No fair!!!! I only got 8,432 Espionage XP (before CXP buff, 10,119 with buff) when I critted this mission. I had 4 blue doffs, I do not know if they had any traits that matched but they were all Security Officers.
That's true, actually, if you have a high number of slots on the assignment and stack them with purples, then that would easily account for this.
Stacked with greens was in the 6k cxp region for a crit which I've gotten on a couple of characters. The math seems correct. The success is still in the region of 1k cxp which appears to be doff mission rarity and time length.

Because good rewards were normally not associated with the doff system. Before I started receiving chains my highest critical was roughly 1200 for doing the entertain assignment. It seems as though recently the rewards have gotten far better with the new assignments and even more so with chain assignments. Before Heretic introduced the updated and expanded the doff system, I didn't see any chain assignments even though I knew it was there through STOwiki. Now I see it all the time.
