# 1 Need for speed :)

I am going to be doing quite a bit of sector hopping in the next few months. I was wondering what is currently the fastest engine for sector space travel?

I currently have the Assimilated Subtranswarp Engines which tops out at warp at warp 14. Of course most of us have Quantum Slipstream Drive abilities but the cool downs are so poky.. zzz

Actually, the Omega and MACO engines are the fastest options for sector travel today.

You can actually hit 20.93 with some investment into Driver Coils, which bumps up to ~29.93 with Quantum Slipstream up.

The Odyssey/Bortas also have an Advanced Quantum Slipstream that significantly increases the time you're able to spend in QS.

I haven't gotten a chance to test the M.A.C.O. or Omega engines yet to see if they can achieve similar speeds, though. :U

Borg engine is warp 14 standard, 20.93 with 9/9 driver coils
MACO is warp 12, tops at 17.94 with 9/9 driver coils.
Omega engine is capped at warp 10, but cuts your slipstream cooldown in half.

Since slipstream is 30 seconds at 29.90 with all three engines, and the cooldown starts at the end of the duration, you can figure the ideal average:

Borg: 22.724
MACO: 20.332
Omega: 16.63

Also, for the sake of comparison:
Stock: 13.98
Stock with 0 driver coils: 11.976

Don't forget the duty officer missions that can boost driver coils. I'm not sure how much they'd help; needs testing.

I had exactly how much it buffed written down somewhere, but lost it.

Diplomatic immunity also gives a warp speed boost. With 9/9 driver coils and diplomatic immunity, slipstream is 34.89

You seem to know things, and I've had a question that's been bugging me. When you hit T3 diplomacy, do you get the speed bonus of DI as a passive thing? Or is it only something you can give out? I -seem- a little faster, but that might just be the placebo effect.

DI's actually a buff you can grant to others that gives them a speed boost and lets them enter enemy territory. You don't get the speed boost yourself, only the ability to enter enemy territory.

Thanks! all very good engine stats to know!
