As we all know, Boldly they rode has a big space battle at the end of it. I've now done it with several ships and captains, and most of them have died allot. Apart from one, which got me thinking. Why? Is the ship class an inherently good one? Did I just get damn lucky? So I thought I'd ask you lot your thoughts.
Shatter'd and sunder'd
So far here's list of ships I got murdered in:
Tactical in a Bortas, and with Romulan shields/Jem hadar Engine and deflector. Died twice.
Science captain in a nebula, with Breen set. Shield tanking, and passive de-buff build. Died twice
Tactical in a Odyssey, Romulan shields/Jem hadar Engine and deflector. High Aux build, with science in the universal. Died twice.
Tactical in an escort: Died many, many, many times!
Right thro' the line they broke;
Now here's where it gets interesting. My Engineer in an Excelsior refit, with an aegis set, and nothing fancy. Max weapons and Shields power, and MKXI gear, didn't die once. At most she lost 6% of her hull. Occasionally one of the shield facings went a bit pants, but nothing to major.
By the time the NPC yelled "there's two many of them!" Two of the three Battleships were dead, and the third was on 3%, and died seconds later (most of which was taken up by Cpt Kurland wasting my time!).
So is the excelsior inherently powerful or something? As you can see I got fairly consistent results with all the other ships. The Excelsior build has mostly Power to X skills and a pair of hull heal skills.
