# 1 Odessy Varriants

My two cents

There has been alot of nerd rage with the variants. That's expected. But that is not why I am writing this.

All I am doing here is highlighting the consoles that come with it. That said....

Tactical Variant: Aquarius Escort
A summon-able combat pet.an extra escort. Nice! Extra firepower.

Operations Variant: Saucer Separation
Boost to maneuverability, weapons and the combat pet saucer, cool.

Science varriant: Worker Bees
Huh? Tiny ships that heal yourself and your allies. Good concept, poor execution. Worker bees, to me, seem more like a engineering option. A more appropriate method would have been something that actually seems science, a new fun beam or radiated aura.

Ok, thoughts?

Those three varients are a sad attempt to make the Odyssey more interesting and bring more money to C-store. Those abilities are not original, at all. It wants to be like a Galaxy with sauser separation, and one fighting pet. Work bees? Really? They are just fodder for "beam fire at will." What problem do they have with bringing in Fed fighters? At least fighters will serve as a distraction from the mothership because they have shields and they shoot back. If they want to give the Odyssey fighting pets then what about us players who payed for shuttle pets and the new runabout that absolutely do nothing for us but fall way behind the ship. They should make them fight for us. After all we did pay for them.

The Science Odyssey also comes with the Science Vessel Sensor Analysis ability. What this means is that for each 6 seconds they have someone targeted within 10km their Damage goes up 3.33%, to a maximum of 33.3% over 1 minute. So in 1 minute their Damage can go from, for example, 450 DPS to 600 DPS.

First, let me say that I will not be using the Odessy! It just isnít the cruiser for me!

Now, I think the worker bees is a rather silly ability for a science cruiser. I would have rather seen a science ability using sensors or the deflector dish.

For example: In 2371, the crew of the USS Voyager modified the ship's main deflector to emit a dampening field. A dampening field or damping field is an energy field which interferes with power emissions within its effective range of operation. Dampening fields can drain an area of power, interfere with communications, block sensor readings including transporter locks, and prevent the operation of phasers and other large power systems.

If the Odessy had a deflector dampening field ability, that caused a damage de-buff and sensor debuff on a target, that would be awesome and more of a science worthy ability. These worker bees are just a dumb idea.

You can't target the bee's. They are only killed by AoE, not that much better but at least PD won't get them. Nice incentive for using torp. spread more. They only heal once each, but you get like 30 of them.

The word is you can't use the escort ship and saucer separation at the same time. Not that big of a deal if escort gets popped and is on a hefty cd. However, the bee's can work with either of the other two at the same time. These consoles offer a set bonus and can't be put on ANY other ship besides +1 oddy.

Just a comment on your work bee's thingy. They aren't targetable, can be killed by splash damage like big explosions though, still kinda crappy though.

The real value is the ens uni slot. Ther is some flex in the builds now. Anyone know how fragile the escort is? If I were buying I'd buy the sci and possibly the tac. Saucer super is of zero interest. If the ship can't turn to my satisfaction, I'll stick with the ex, the si hips or an escort.

okay a couple of problems with your statements. The Worker Bee's heal you for 75 hit points per second over 10 seconds PER BEE. And the Console Deploys 4 bee's. That is a total of 3,000 Hit Points recovered in ten seconds. You do not get 30 bee's. Nor do you get 30 heals per-se. However you do get 40 heals for 75 points each distributed over 10 seconds.

For the record, the Saucer Seperation granted by the Engineering Console is actually worth getting as it significantly increases the mobility of the Star Drive section of the ship for as long as it is engaged. Making the ship itself actually almost as maneuverable as an escort. This in my mind is worth the value of getting the Engineering vessel.

The Science Ships Sensor Analysis ability definitely makes it the best out of the three for the moment (at least until such time as the powers that be see fit to nerf the ability in some fashion).

And while the Tactical Escort is good to get for the set bonus granted by having all three consoles, I personally don't see myself using it as often as the Saucer Seperation, though it does have its uses (such as being a pseudo Point Defense Console).
