However, the answer to your question OP is this: If you ask to be part of a Fleet they probably ASSUME you are a Thief considering that has been going around a lot lately. If They do not know how to properly lock down their assets they may be unwilling. Otherwise, they may reject you because they feel their fleet is big enough as it is.

If it were ME you were asking it would depend on your personality and what species you were in-game.

I know what you mean. But the Fleet I am in is a guy I know from Playing MW3. he is even on my firiends likst for MW3. Cannot believe that I ran into him on STO, so I do not want to leave his fleet but changes are in the furture. Heck if you start a fleet I have a toon that needs one, hit me up.

I have to add to your comment on thiefs. Watch out for anything that you have to buy and get C points, or anything else that is not from Cryptic. You download a program attached to your so called prize, and BOOM, they will be able to get all your stuff. I helped a guy out that started a fleet and then told us we could all leave, he only wanted to do that to try somethings and offered 500k EC. I did not take the hand out, you never know. BE CAREFUL

Third party programs are almost always inadvisable and may be breaking your ToS. As for taking EC or joining a fleet... That is no big deal. You can take someone's offered EC without a problem.

I will fully admit that I spent a good 2 hours trying to get some random people to help me start a fleet just because I wanted the easier method of transferring from one character to the other, let's face it there are A LOT of people doing this. I offered to pay people to help me and everyone that did said they didn't want anything for helping. Me being me I gave them all 250k each because most of them were new players and I had the extra EC.

So now here I am with this Fleet with my two characters (soon to be 3) and one other random dude I started talking to and we just decided to mutually help each other out so I added him to the fleet. We use the fleet chat option because it's easier than pms and the fleet bank to store 10 trillion samples and exchange items between character or instead of tracking each other down for trading items. Other than that we just Team Queue for STFs and the such.

There are fleets on here with 100+ people in the fleet that don't even do as much as what I just listed that two people do. The point is if you ask someone to join their fleet and they say no it's their loss not yours.

If I were looking to expand my fleet (which I'll probably start doing) the requirements I would have is:

1) Doesn't matter how long you've been playing, just that your a pretty active player.

2) If you get something you know someone else in the fleet needs and you have extra you share and visa versa

3) When you first start off in the fleet you can see what's in the fleet bank but you're not touching it for awhile until we're sure you don't have an Frengi business associates waiting in a cloaked ship to steal all our stuff.

Personally I can't see the point in having any other requirements other than that unless like someone else said the fleet is made up of real life friends or something like that.

Ironically I keep running into people I know from other games in the past a lot here lately. Met a few people, and even a fleet I used to be in, from Navyfield. Couple guys I've bumped into from a couple other MMOs Ive been on. Just 2 days ago I bumped into a guy who's name looked really familiar, just couldnt pin it down. So I sent him a tell asking what games hes played cause I recognize his off the wall moniker. So happens he played on Leafcull server with me back on Asheron's Call. Mind you that was 13 or 14 years ago.

You just never know who you run into these days.

Feisty,

If you have asked anyone from the {UFP}, there is a reason you did not get an invite. We have a policy where you must join at our website and then apply for in-game membership there. This way, we do not run the risk of ninjas trying to raid our banks. Of course, they should have told you this.

Another reason this could happen is if people were busy doing a mission and couldn't drop what they were doing to send an invite.

In any case I would like to invite you to visit the {UFP} in person and see what we have to offer. I think you'll like what you see. Just click my siggy banner. I think you'll be glad you did. Tell 'em Stormy sent ya.

Good 'ole stormy trying to bring anybody and everybody into the fleet. It's almost as if he were a . . .

A lot of fleets don't just invite random people and a lot of fleets have specific people who do the inviting; a brief interview or application process may be involved to make sure you are a good fit for the fleet/ not just going to jack all their stuff.
I would suggest, rather than just asking random people of a fleet for an invite, you check the fleet out, if they have a website, have a look around on it. Chat with some of the people, and check to see if they have specific recruiting officers and talk to them.
