I tried this build with the Bortas freebie the other day to see if it would work.

EPTS1 / ET2 / A2D2 / A2SIF3
EPTS1
THY1 / BFAW2 / APO1
TT1 / APB1
ST1 / HE2

(6) Beam arrays / (2) torps

- Shield Heal: TS2 (bonus from Aux), EptS2, EptS3, Shield Battery (emergency)
- +Aux Borg Deflector, +Aux KHG Engines, +Aux 2-piece KHG = more resistance to XX ?
- Currently game focus on Shield Tanking more than Hull Tanking

Support: (Why EptA?)
- I used EptW for weapons energy bonus before, but no need w/ Plasmonic Leech Console
- The EptW gives a minor damage increase for only 5 seconds
- EptEngines is useless compared to EptAux
- EptAux provides Aux which means better heals and more resistance (need to verify) ?

Auxiliary to Structural Integrity Field: Increases Heal and Resistance
So yes eptAux does provide more.

Roach I just really love your pic. He just seems so happy! Is that a picture of you dressed up as a klingon or just some other klingon? How did you like the build after trying it?

Ah yes, I smile every time I see that avatar.

A long time ago I use to have the hair, before I lost it over time working OOC and many die jobs. Now I just have a wig that looks like it and dark hair that slowly going gray.

On a side note , The Bortas-1 is not a bad healboat, even for a Tac.

I've been enjoying the tac bortas, but just switched over to command for the two sci slots. With the stupid f'in new stacking field generators, it really pushes that direction.

Previously, I liked having the 5 tac consoles and not relying on building up sensor analysis. Now... it's worth the situational risk to have better shields.

I play with a Tactical Captain and use a slight variation and only have the normal Bortas so far:

Tactical LtCdr: TT1, FAW2, APB2
Tactical Lt: TT1, FAW2
Eng Univ: EptW1
Eng Cdr: ET1, RSP1, EptS3, Aux2SIF3
Sci Lt: HE1, TS2

I don't have a skill to deal with Tractor Beams, I would use Polarize Hull for EptW1 or APO1 instead of APB2. I have ET1 despite 2x TT1. Sometimes you rather want some more hull repair when you don't have shields or already full shields.

What makes me a bit sad is that it seems better to go without the three special console of the Bortasqu pack.
They should have made the escort separation modes for Ody and Bortasqu innate abilities, as they actually are that. This console can't be used on other ships after all.

OK - back to resisting the siren call of the Bortasqu Command Cruiser.

I would highly suggest running AP:O1 because of the all purpose boost., esp. movement and it will resolve your tractor beams situation. If done correctly with key binding, only use on TT1.

I sadly have to admit, I recently removed my last Bortasqu console, the auto cannon.

despite 2x TT1...
Longasc, you can run with one TT1 if you get the right* Conn Officer DOffs loaded in your Active Space Duties. If memory serves... 1x Blue DOff reduces the TT CD by 6s, a Purple by 8s. Meaning if you have 2x Blues slotted you get to use your single TT1 every 18s. Having 1x Blue + 1x Purple is near perfect at 16s. If you can get 2x Purples you hit the Global CD and can perfectly recast your one TT every 15s (I use this last set-up with the Maintenance Engineer's similar CD reduction on ET and can run a single ET3 like it's two).

Note that you can slot up to three Conn Officers, so other combos are possible using White (-2s) and Green (-4s), but above are the most efficient. Remember you can't break the Global CD no matter how many of any quality DOff you slot.

* There are two Conn Officer variants. The one I describe above, and another that that affects Evasive Maneuvers.

Anyway, this would free up an Ensign Tac. Not great, but useful for a TSS: Engines or BO1. Also, these* Conn Officers provide a small buff to your Starship Attack Patterns skill.

And speaking of AP, I would also agree with Warmog and switch out the APB2 for an APO1. I used to use APB2 on my Excel, but never really noticed it help much. So I switched to APO1 and I love it! It's a great "Swiss Army Knife" power: Movement Debuff (TB) Immunity, Damage Resistance & Defense stat buff, and a Speed/Turn buff. All excellent for Defense. The fact that it also does a modest damage buff is icing on the cake.
