Hello

Ive been playing since launch and decided to give a try for Klingons finally. Everything is fun and games until i get to space battle which seems oddly hard even in normal difficulty level. I have been playin all the time on elite diff at federation side with litle problems but now i get defeated all the time in space combat at Kliungon side.

Why is this? I assume i just dont know how to fit a Klingon ship or use skill on klingon side or is it just that Klingon ships are so much weaker than federation ships.

All the gelp appreciated, thanks.

Cant be the ships being too weak. Every time a new ship comes out we get cries of how over powered they are from the Fed players. Try playing the Raptor as a cross between an Escort and a sci ship so give it a turn boost console or two, DHC's and a torp up front with maybe a beam or two up stern in case those pesky enemies start to try and flank you.

When you attack an NPC enemy always decloak off its stern (literally about 1-1.5km away) if its a big enemy as you can stay there at low impulse and hammer away with your cannons. In the case of opponents which are in more nimble ships, decloak at 10km away and head towards them at 1/4 impulse or so with a good cannon scatter volley and torpedo spread and with any luck most of the enemies will be dead before you get within range that they are no longer in your forward arc. Thing to remember is most kdf ships have a cloak and they are expected to use the decloak bonus on attacks as much as possible.

You can outfit your QIn Raptor identical to a Defient-R and they will work the same, though the Qin will turn slightly slower.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I totally forgot that cloak buff and also i think that major strategy change from fed ships is in order, maybe i should go back to bird of prey since it has battle cloak and i could use that pretty much the sameway that Klingons used it in series meaning hit hide run hit style of play.

Still i wonder am i expected to still use shields as damage absorbers or is it normal on KDF ships that shieldd go fast out. maybe i need to take another look of resistances from consoles also.

What did you flt before? Escorts, cruisers, or science (or all I guess)? The raptors are roughly the same style as fed escorts in play.
Are you boosting your shield tanking at all in combat (EptS, TSS, Sci Team, for example)? Once you come out of cloak and engage in combat, a raptor's gotta be ready to deal with the fight all the same as if that cloak didn't exist.

The BoP does give you hit-and-run capability, but be careful not to cloak as torpedoes are inbound. They might do a number on your sheidless hull.
