So are we still going to have access to these assignments in tactical view or are we going to have to go into our ships, DS9 and Qo'noS/Earth to get them? I'm all for functionality, but I don't want to spend the majority of my time running around my ship and other places when I could be doing missions and grinding.

Are these assignments going to be on the sector 4 hour update timer, or the one hour shipboard timer (assuming there still is a shipboard timer, as distinct from having all missions on the new interiors)? My excitement about the new system is tempered by concern about having to check every corner of my shipboard interior every hour if I ever want to find the missions I need to finish assignment chains.

So... Galor and bugship. Am I right to guess those of us flying one of those are just kind of screwed in the shipboard Doff assignment department? Or have you gone and tacked on a turbolift afterall? So if nothing else, even if the interior looks out of line with the bridge, flying one of these doesn't mean shooting yourself in the foot, or having to take up permanent residence in a shipyard.

So will those contacts be our actual Tac/Sci/Eng officers that WE actually selected in the DOFF screen originally or some random NPC's?

Because I'd actually be wanting to talk to my proper tactical officer not some random NPC they just happen to spawn into my interior.

NOW if you can only make it so we can set the outfits for our crew - ship wide (and for our new/existing bridge officers) - to round it off so we can truly create a unique experience.

Well what can I say, amongst all the fail that has been happening one jewel glistens in the rough.
Finally ship interiors have some meaning, just got to get the bank and exchange working....

Actually, those of us flying those ships have an easier time... all those contacts are available on a single console on a bridge. So no need to run around

Hey, whaddya want for a dollar??? :p All of your Jem'Hadar crew are dead anyway.

Hey Heretic, wouldn't it be awesome and realistic if DOFF slots were tied to ship size? So a cruiser can have ~200 in reserve but a bug ship gets 6 or 7?

It's been stated over and over that the database can't handle that...

It would be neither awesome or realistic. It would actually be arbitrary and restrictive. Not two good attributes for a game.

Duty Officers represent the officers under the umbrella of your character's command. As most characters are flag officers, there are many more crew under their command than a single ship. Even a regular naval captain commands more crew than their ship typically runs with, due to leave rotations.

If an advantage is to be given to one ship type, then another advantage must be given to the other ships. This would have been interesting before the game launched if the Genesis engine was actually seeded with a variety of mission types, rather than scan or kill 5 things. A colony evacuation mission could be best for Cruisers, while a stealthy mission could be best for Escorts. This is not what we have though. We can not have an aspect of the game that unduly gives advantage to a single ship or type.

In summary, there is no reason for your Assignment limit or DOff compliment to be tied to ship size.
