This is a great addition and something that's long overdue. But the lack of dept. heads or customisable crew uniforms still causes a huge disconnect that doesn't make much sense to me, especially if the whole idea is to improve crew interaction. What's the point if I'm not interacting with MY crew? It may as well be controlled through a menu, like the DOFF system currently is. Generic NPC's don't really cut it
It's a good move, certainly, I just wish that when you say we get to talk to our crews, we actually get to talk to our crews. These shipboard contacts are strangers and I certainly didn't approve their transfers to my ship.
You are not just the captain of a few high ranking bridge officers, your crew does not comprise only of specially trained duty officers. You are the captain of hundreds of fine men, women - and others - from many different planets all across the galaxy. We may not always know their names, we might not even come face to face with them ever - but they nevertheless fulfill their duties to Starfleet, serve the ideals of the Federation, serve You! If you are unable to acknowledge this, you are unworthy of command, unworthy of this uniform and every day you continue to wear it while displaying such ignorance brings shame upon us all!
This is awesome, and will add some immersion. While you're tinkering with the interiors, how about making a door, marked as shuttle bay, activate our shuttle list, instead of having to ask our transporter chief.
Nice workaround until Tumerboy can cut and paste his nice shuttlebay behind a door ...
Please tell me we can finally customize our crew's uniforms! (demographic customization would be nice as well, as in foundry level customization with 10-20 slots for randomly spawning crew)
That is possible in the foundry?? Yet not on our ships??
Even our ships crews have to draw their appearances from somewhere - if we could get access via a UI option - or by sacrifice of a costume slot even - and let the random crew generator draw its data from there - just picking different heads as it has done the rest of the time ... ?
Finally, I can prowl the hallways of my Hegh'ta and grumble accordingly at my Crew.
Do you have the bop bridge pack? I was gonna get it but with the others I purchased not being any different than the free ones I was hesitant about buying any more of them. I'm just hoping this functionality is something fun and enjoyable LOL.
so did i get this right? there will be no changes to interior or the random crew on board. just some random bubbles over some random guy that gives an assingment as the assignments tab would do.
or will we see active assingments not just timed once like we have now?
seeing what you can do in the episodes and with a powerful playerbase using a tool like the foundry i simply dont understand why interiors have improve in micro steps till now.
if its to much work to make the different characters for the doffs why not let the players just make em in the foundry and use em as avaliable. but it would make even more sense to just make a random generator to build a toon, take a picture for the doff item and done.
crew uniform, its just a slot and the uniform is used instead of the generic one, why this takes years, you can even sell that slot for money and make it free later.
ships have corridors with doors, why not allow players to build rooms(of correct size) in the foundry and allow players to place them behind doors. like clicking a door and get a list of player made rooms or the option to make a room, choose one and voila you can customize and improve your interior and no work for cryptic.
of course when using player content there must be also placed slots for mission characters and classification of the rooms, like if its a sick bay or a conference room.
i hope you expand that interior assignment system to bring some life into your ships. your the captain you should be able to attend gala dinners, hold marriages ceremons for your crew, motivate a crewmember and stuff like that.

technical difficulties, holodeck mailfunction, warpcore mailfunction
alien on board, some creature wanders around your ship hostile or friendly or infesting the ship, you have to find out and communicate or fight the creature
diseases making the crew agressive, or ill, you have to find a cure. might even be linked to away missions where you got the disease.
the interior could be as much fun as the exterior part with much less work for cryptic as you dont need to make an new environment for every singel task. in example the mission i liked most was the romulan front(especially coliseum). it really felt like a story and not just fighting wave after wave. personaly thats the part where i would want sto to be enhanced and that keeps me playing.
whatever you do use the power of the community. need a new sickbay or a shuttle hangar, let players create them in the foundry and vote which one is the best and so on.
