So you were a contributing factor to this.

My AFK-encounter adventure. 1 man down = rest of us have higher workload, and have to deal with low DPS teammates to boot.

Cure Normal (not even elite lol)

1 AFKer, 2 low DPS ships, 1 BortaS and 1 cruiser (me). Only the BortaS and I appeared to contribute useful DPS, the rest were decoys :p

Everyone flew off to attack the shipyard immediately without a second thought. Thankfully I look before flying (good driving habit: must check blindspots!!) and sat at the Kang easily protecting it from any threats.

By about 5 minutes there was obvious something was wrong: the shipyards were being taken VERY slowly and only the BortaS on the team was actually working on demolishing the cubes and the nanite generators.

The 2 other active ships were struggling to fight off Raptors and doing very poorly at that, their BARCAP was more like a paper thin net and 100% of the Raptors actually got to firing range of the Kang. I would probably be steamrollered but thankfully I had tractor repulsors and continuous "Battlestar Pegasus" cannon spam active and easily destroyed everything.

The BortaS personally destroyed the first and I helped with the second cube and STILL within optional time limit. Then we had a little legal battle right there on the battlefield when things were stlll exploding:

1. BortaS complains no one is assaulting the cubes
2. One of the other teammates complained someone was AFK
3. I remarked quite sarcastically I don't notice - too busy with Kang
4. Someone else mentioned "Do you see player X firing?"
5. I reply to 1) saying that in an earlier match I personally destroyed all the cubes while everyone else was protecting the Kang!

We exchanged lots of lols the rest of the way saying it is our 'honourable duty' to pick up where the PUGs left off

Thats almost as bad as trying to fly me through with old clunker and my peanut shells and duct tape keyboard. You certainly have the luck don't you?

Had a pretty lousy time earlier today, during a Mirror 'event'.

Started okay - I was using my second character, a Lt-Commander (Tac) flying a Saber class. Six other players (that I could see) also present.

Took a little while to get to the Stadi, as didn't appear that all of the ships that warped in were participating. By the time the Stadi appeared the only two ships still fighting were an Exeter class and my ship. After a prolonged fight, and a fair number of respawns, we got the Stadi down to about 45%, and then Exeter class got blasted by the Stadi's spinal phaser of doom and didn't respawn. My "where did everyone go" went ignored and needless to say, it became pretty obvious that my Saber class wasn't much of a threat to the Stadi one-on-one, and after a while the Stadi literally decided I wasn't worth the effort, and flew back to hover above the starbase.

All in all, rather disappointing.

I'm torn between two.

First was a KA space Elite PUG. We drop the cube no problem, a guy calls that he's gonna cover probes from the left. I'm moving to the left with another teammate and since we're both faster we take out the first two probes, give him time to set up right?

The dude loses his ****!

"Oh I guess I'm not covering the probes then! I ****ing called left noobs!"

My reply "We were going left to start our job, dropped the probes ont he way, feel free to keep up on them."

After that I just get on with working on the generators and the first cube for the left.

As the cube is about to go, mr. personality CAPS over comms "PROBES ON THE LEFT!!" I pan around and sure enough, he took off to the right side.

I book it to the probes with the other layer on my side and we drop the probes with a few seconds to spare.

I ask "I thought you had left?"

THe reply, "You took my kills"

I'm annoyed at this point so I come back with "SO you decide to punk out and not tell anyone you're not watching left? WTH man if you're going to call a side, stick with it."

He starts going off on how I'm a noob and that Silvers shouldn't be allowed in Elite runs and various other crap.

Ultimately we managed to get the bonus, we popped the last probe with 3 seconds left. Killed Donatra took our rewards and left.

THe whole time the idjit was apparently blasting me over comms, I'm only aware of this because one of the other players mentioned it as I had put the nit on ignore after our last exchange.

I did find it very satisfying that the death count was.

Me: 2

Him: 6

He was in an Ody, I was in a Tectical Escort Retrofit.

Not only was I doing WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more DPS than him (Natch for a properly equipped Defiant) but I was TAKING more damage AND surviving.

Yes, I'm F2P, doesn't mean I haven't earned my place at the Elite run table. I know my job, I do it well.

Point me at what you want dead and it's dead. DOn't Punk out and throw a damn fit because I "Took your kills" I guarantee that there will be more probes.

The second was Infected space Elite.

Four of us bust our butts, first side goes down, we clear the swarm and head for the second side, I tend to go wide so I can avoid the gate attacks, cloak and get set up for the next side, as I'm heading out I see a player sitting at the spawn point.

I hail and mention that it would go faster if he helped. No reply.

I roll into the cube attack and we work down the right side, I'll toss off the occasional "Hey man we're not exactly having a picnic over here."

No reply.

Again, we manage to get the bonus and sure enough as soon as the need/greed/pass comes up our AFK friend NEEDS on everything swoops in and grabs his reward then busts out.

I'm ****ed at this point and in comm I say "Are you &%$@ing Kidding me?" everyone else is throwing out variations on "What the hell, did he just..."

I leave the map and spend the next fifteen minutes hitting every sector and warning everyone about the leech.

I finally make it to ESD and fire off the same message receiving various PM's thanking me about the heads up on him and asking me if i was serious.

ONE of the replies was him.

"I was AFK I'm not a leech! I went AFK before the accept message popped up! Stop telling everyone I'm a leech."

I replied with "You were AFK and only came back the very second the Tactical cube went up, just in time to NEED on everything, take the drops and run? Bull"

"It's true! I'm not a leech!"

At that point I get another PM from someone else who says the guy I'm complaining about did the same thing on a run with him.

Between these two I can't decide which is worse.

RE: Mirror event offtopic comment

That's pretty bad. The Mirror Event is one of the easier fleet battles and is enjoyable with any ship class. It's pretty well balanced if pilots know to break up the enemy groups and manage aggro.

The most fun I've had with it are on a Tier II cruiser staying fast and sweeping through fore and aft torpedo arcs the entire way.

RE: Leeches.

I notice a handful who deliberately bring Tier I ships to Elite STFs and contribute nothing to the team.

At one point I spotted two of these Tier Is stopping their ships over the starbase during Infected mid-battle and exchanging small talk on Local.

The only intention to bring Tier Is to a DPS-crucial Elite map is so they can grab the loot bags and run away.

I justify that statement by observing that these Tier I ships come in heavily damaged, blow up a zillion times during battle and no repairs are ever made to them.

For the record I'm usually too busy saving the Optionals to bother about one AFKer or one Tier I that keeps exploding.

When two appear (from a team queue) and the rest of the group works their *** off to complete the map on their behalf, I find something's amiss.

Yesterday I played one. It was my worst about players behaviour. It was infected elite STF.
We started well. Cube and spheres were killed.
We took a place and everyone shoot the gen. And one was to cover us. Suddenly one guy decided not to follow the 10% rules. Spheres and nanites went out. A guy said : "good job noobs. Engaging cloack". And he stayed far away. The badass said. I don't like that. And he stayed far away too. We fought with sphere and nanites for a longtime.
