Nothing wrong with the ship set up, I took pointers from Cygone. Classic case of the player being the weak link.
It's just a slight playstyle change.

Standard tactics in Infected on Normal is to blow everything up and clear the borg spawn as they come in.

Standard tactics in Infected on elite is to damage the four generators down to 10% Health (so remember to take OFF autofire), then kill them all at once and immediately have everyone attack the Transformer. (The Transformer can only be damaged after the generators are destroyed, you'll find people save their damage output buffs for the Transformer).

On a PUG Elite Infected, you'll often find that someone kills a generator early (whilst at least one of the others is still >70% HP) which will start spawning the waves of Nanite Spheres from the gateway. At that point, you'll usually want to use an ability or two to try to slow the incoming Nanite Spheres down - and then turn your attention back to the Transformer.

In an escort, I can usually cope with an "oops" moment on the generators by using Evasive + APO + a Vent Theta Console to dump a cloud of Warp Plasma in the path of the spheres, then help focus fire kill the Transformer before the Spheres can struggle their way through the plasma and into healing range of it.

Had a guy just now, with a group of somewhat decent noobies to stf's. One says they can watch Kang, the rest of us fly off to the first cube. Start pounding away, and notice on of the guys is 56k away...ask if he got dc'd..no answer from anyone.
Ask a second time about 15 sec later, guy chimes in "oh, no i was afk"
Finish off the first cube before he can get back to us. No big deal, no harm done....right?
Take care of the BoP's and Raptors, and get going on the second cube. Get the first set of probes done, when I notice the same guy is over 30k away, thinking he's back helping defend Kang. Nope, he's sitting where the first cube was. Ok, maybe he got DC'd this time. So I ask, with of course no reply. Get the cube down close to 50% before he pipes back up "oh, i went afk again"
Ok, at that time I knew what he was doing. Guessing the rest of you can too.
So, the rest of us continue on, clearing everything before hitting the last cube. Low and behold, guess who's just sitting where the second cube just was. By this point I'm just wanting to get thru it as fast as possible to try and get the Optional before time runs out...4min left by the way when we get started on the last cube.
So 4 of us, my escort, and two sovereigns with skittles and a klingon Quv' plugging away, Manage to get it down with 30 sec left.
And now its time for the Carrier. Our 5th still sitting where the middle cube is. Longest Carrier I have EVER done. Can't blame the Skittles since it was their first STF (found out afterwards) Quv went after everything but the carrier...which was all right at that point, I just didn't care. Our "afk'er" was still clicking need on every loot drop until it was over.
When all was said and done, I told him in not the nicest of ways, that he shouldn't join stf's if he's just going to sit there.
I'm sure I got reported due to some poor choice of words, but oh well.
Made two new friends, who I'm going to help with their builds when they get back online.

Well, in retrospect I guess that it wasn't entirely my fault. My crowd-control may have been severely lacking, and this might have been why the optional failed, but it certainly wasn't me that caused the mass sphere/probe spawning.

As said in my earlier post, I was working on crowd control and healing - took a few shots at a generator but definitely didn't break the 10% rule .

Your job is to slow them down until the others blow the transformer. Then heal and help dispatching them. And when the Tac cube comes, your job is to troll it so the DPS ships can finish it off without dying. As simple as that. And no, the LRSV refit does not suck in elites. I got my first prototype salvage in that craft.
Agreed. I actually find the Voy to be quite fun to play in Elite, as it allows me to do some real flying instead of sitting around, shooting off cannons all day. You just have to know your place in the grand scheme of things and when to fire off its awesome debuffs. However, your comment about making it a torp boat is interesting, as it gives me a valid excuse to start using tachyon beams again. I should give that a try since the DBB's just aren't fun to use at all. The question now is whether I should go for all Quants or all Photons.

Photons do better DPS as they reload faster and you can therefore fire off more of them.

I see this all the time in ISE Pugs.

The nodes blow and three rainbows take off to kill spheres without shooting the generator.

If everyone focuses on the generator right away and forgets the spheres until the gen is dead things work much better,

But that almost never happens in a PuG.

Well, there was today where someone received ALL of the loot drops and all of the STF Optional rewards, despite everyone else pressing Need along with her...

I had an awesome moment with KA space normal today. I flew in between the Scimitar's . . . . I don't know what you call it. Screenshots: I'm the defiant class ship.

It's interesting how that works. Someone with 0 DPS, Technicolor/rainbow beams or Skittle cannons, they die repeatedly, or set off in the distance 70K and they get all the drops. I haven't figured that one out yet. The only drops I ever get are lock boxes and the final drop.

Oh well, most of the stuff is useless anyhow other than maybe to sell on the exchange.

i think for me the worst STF experience was yesterdays Infected event 3 times throughout the day when i had a chance to play i qued up got in the game only to be dumped in a completed mission that folks were stuck in. and then when i left the map was stuck with the 1 hour cool down timer.. 3 TIMES! that occured..

then it went from bad to worse.. a couple of times i did the Infected Space Elite and TWICE! completed the mission clicked on my drop box to collect my reward.. the box disapears annnnnd i recieved absolutely NOTHING! and some of those drops were pretty nice ones also.. so that also pretty peeved me off massively.

i am noticing since the last update to STF's the maps are increasingly getting buggy and glitchy and disconnects happen more often and so on and so forthe... so my weekly wednesday stf day yesterday was a total let down

i really wish Goza and the team would polish up the stfs and fix some of these regular irritating bugs etc before adding new missions to the line up as at the moment i really dont feel like playing em at the moment especially after yesterdays experience.
