I think a lot of people on this thread have the notion that people working on a game about Trek should be passionate and knowledgeable about Trek. But is that really a reasonable expectation?
I love Trek, yet I acknowledge the silly bits. Every series and movie has had them. Sometimes they're put there knowingly, for comic relief; sometimes they're unintentional, or silly when taken out of context/without willing suspension of disbelief.
He's an artist/model maker, doing the job he's been given and hired for, and he thinks we're all nerds. That's... unfortunate. But we're not doing a lot to change that impression.

Honestly I think it would be silly to think everyone hired on to work on parts of this game is a trek fan. Saying that I do think insulting it is quite honestly really unprofessional and should atleast call for an apoligy for doing that. What you think about the Star Trek universe in general is besides the point as his job is to create ships and I think that some of the devs are going with their wants more then that of the community. Also if your gonna argue facts the least you could do is have some actual facts to argue with. Saying the excelsior wasn't popular is well insane since before the Odyssey is was considered to be the best tac cruiser by quite a few players ingame. Its really uncalled for and quite stupid to insult not only the players for loving the genre but the genre itself when your working on a game that deals with it.
How far action against him should be taken if any is really a matter of opinion and ppl insulting others for what they think is not far enough or way to far only furthers in causing the chaos that so many are complaining about. If you want to write a letter asking for his termination well honestly its your dime spend it. If you think you should just forgive and forget then forget it. Yelling at each other in a posting about it doesn't help either issue and everyone should respect the others right. To be far I as stated above think Jamz should apologize atleast as he like many posters went alittle far and as a Dev he should really have more professional ways to get out his messages then what he has shown us today. The community well its the way it is in any game as far as their actions and if your gonna interact or take on a job in these you kinda have to get use to some backlash. That doesn't excuse them or make them right but it is a way that it is and I doubt there will be a change to that soon.

Ooh and since I didnt see an answer I say to our new ship designer that the reason people blow a fuse when your using the rainbow of colors(different beams/cannon energy types) is because you cant stack the damage you would do as high as if you stuck with one type of enegy weapon say phasers. This is due to the Tactical consoles being say Xi blue console would do plus 26 damage for that one type. Overall your losing damage and since STF and endgame is more about maxing damage ppl get offended when your not maxing it in the best way. I do think there is one that covers universal energy damage but its not quite as high as if you pick a single energy weapon type and the related console for that (think they are directed energy consoles and only get plus 20 if I remember correctly). Hope that answers the question for you.
