I still say they should go with a design similar to Activisions U.S.S. Typhon.
The thing is, that the concept art resembles an escort ala Prometheus. I would picture a carrier having minimum nacelles extensions. It would be nice to see the nacelles hidden like the Defiant.
Hm. Bismark looks like a four-nacelled flatbed from SFC. Not at all like the Bismark-class Enterprise-G, but more like if the Feds in SFB actually built the Mars-class BB as a BBV.
The design is... not horrible. I've seen much much much worse in the Starship Schematic Database. Hell, the Ellis class is canon and it looks like crud! This one is rather reminiscent of the Prometheus, though. It'd need more bulk. I've noticed that people whose homebash ships appear in the SSSD tend to grossly underestimate the amount of hull volume needed for both small craft and their carriage. Masaeo Okazaki's Starfleet Museum site has some excellent pre-TOS and TOS-era carriers and fighters; I strongly recommend looking at them and seeing just how much space a fighter can eat up. Alas, my dreams of an Avenger-class carrier (back before it was renamed the Miranda class) were shattered by that site, but c'est la guerre.
And of course that isn't going into the whole debate about if the Feds should have carriers or not which I am so not getting any on me if it starts in this thread.
From a carrier standpoint, the Jupiter-class actually looks like the best jumping-off point, by me. I personally think the Jupiter us ugly as sin, but its very basic configuration would lend itself well to things like launch bays.
While artistically your pictures are pretty nice, I have to agree that they still look too much like the Prometheus, and not really enough like a Carrier-style ship.
oh my. not another fed carrier thread. how many times does cryptic have to say no before we stop pushing it.
other than that, it is a sexy design, could be interesting as a cruiser or something...
lol, yeah its another thread, however; this one is a bit different since the OP is presenting artwork. You are however; correct in regards to CRYPTIC saying no to a Fed carrier - its probably going to go the way of the Cat
So no to a Fed Carrier but yes to the Thundercats - Hoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Truth be told there is nothing original in regards to the KDF having a carrier - its more of an abomination than originality. Trust me, this is coming from the a KDF number 1 fan - me - I love my KDF.
