I am a Tac Captain and I post on these boards quite often in giving advice, but now it’s my turn to try and seek some,

I am currently in the Nebula as my current ship of choice. I run this ship for everything, but I don’t do STF. So mainly PvP, solo grinding etc. etc.

Current setup:

Fore:
Photon Torpedo Launcher MK XI [Acc]x2 [CrtD]
Photon Torpedo Launcher MX XI [Acc]x2 [CrtD]
Phaser Beam Array MK XI [Acc] [CtrD] [Dam]

Aft:
Phaser Beam Array MK XI [Acc] [CtrD] [Dam]
Photon Torpedo Launcher MX XI [Acc]x2 [CrtD]
Photon Torpedo Launcher MX XI [Acc]x2 [CrtD]

Equipment:
Jem’Hadar Combat Impulse Engines MK XI
Positron Deflector Array Mk XI [PtrG] [ShdS] [Stl]
Shield Array MK XI [Cap]x3

Devices:
Large Shield Battery
Large Aux Battery
Subspace Modulator

Consoles:
RCS Accelerator MK XI (Blue)
Neutronium Alloy MK XI (Blue)
Assimilated Module

Field Generator MK XI (Blue)
Field Generator MK XI (Blue)
Graviton Particle Generator MK XI (Blue)
Graviton Particle Generator MK XI (Blue)

Photon Detonation Chamber MK XI (Blue)
Photon Detonation Chamber MK XI (Blue)

Bridge Officers:
Tac. Lt. – HYT1 / HYT2
Uni. Lt. – EPtS1 / ET2
Eng. Lt. Cmd. – EPtS1 / A2SiF1 / EWP1
Sci. Ens. TSS1
Sci. Cmd. – HE1 / ST2 / CBP2 / GW3

Duty Officers:
2 Blue Projectile Weapons Officers
1 Blue Gravimetric Scientist
2 Blue Development Lab Scientists

Power Levels:
47/25
67/30
47/25
123/95

With this build, and especially the 2 copies of EPtS1, I can solo any PvE content quickly and efficiently, never leave a fight with a scratch, but as soon as I drop from having EPtS, I start to take masses of damage, due to the -18% resists and lower shield power.

What I really want to do is make the move to the Intrepid, as its got a better turn rate and will allow me to carry VM1 and TB1 as well as my current set of bridge officer abilities. However I TAKE SO MUCH DAMAGE, can someone make a sensible suggestion of how to build an Intrepid with the general purpose use that I use it for.

Any suggestions?

When you need to soak up a little more damage, switch your power level, using a pre-set, so that you can get 125 shields, then switch it back when you are not taking as much damage and want to dish it out yourself. That is all the advice I have for you atm.

Also, between recharges of EPTSI, you could always try to use “Jam Target Sensors”, to bide you time to recharge shields.

Try changing some of your Doff assignment to chance to recharge shields after using Brace for Impact. I have three of them and it fully recharges all four shield quadrants when any of the shield facings take energy damage, similar to using RSP1. When equipt with with RSP1, EPtS3, TSS1 and brace for impact, I can take full agro from a Tac Cube in STF normal with no problem. By the way I'm using a MACO XI shield with BORG engines, deflector and console.

Hey Cygone.

Ive been flying this for a while now. This is a build you and the rest of the forum have helped me create. I do everything with it, PvP, STF Elite etc

The skill points arent finished yet.
http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skil...ld=Artemis17_0

In PvP it takes down cruisers and nullifies Escorts. I dont think you will have a problem surviving. Since you can carry soooo many heals and resists. If you wanted you could get x2 EPtS, but I rather two EPtW. It certainly doesnt do as much raw damage as an escort, thats why I still use my MVAE for most STF. But when it comes to killing stuff with shields, you will do more damage since you can drop those shields.

This build is all about energy levels. Boosting your own and diminishing your target's.
Drain stats
Tykens III (-60) + Target Subsystem Shields (-25) + Energy Siphon II (-12) + random Polaron (-47)
For anything PvE Tyken's alone should be able to drop their shields.

For your own energy levels, I kinda cheat for an additional +22 to all systems. (+10 from MACO and +12 from siphon). That allows me to have max weapons and shields those whole time I am under fire. The key is to start the fight in a max Aux power setting, that way Siphon Energy lasts a minute (its whole recharge). Cast it, then switch to max weapons/shields.

With max shield power, 2x TSS, Subspace field modulator, Science fleet, scattering field, MACO absorption, resilient absorption and the ablative armor, you shouldnt have problems with tanking damage. For spikes, pop tactical team. Not to mention you will be taking less damage because you are draining their weapons power.

If the target is fast, tractor beam before Tyken's Rift. (Switch back to max Aux for maximum drain).
If you want more of a healing role, you can do that as well with Science team, Hazard emitters and TSS.

Photonic shockwave is more of a PvP skill, so you can put w/e there, maybe gravity well if you do a lot of stf. And your probably dont need 2 copies of TSS if you dont want to be healer or tank or PvP with it.

I looked over this build, and considering how bad PSW really is (my Photons hit harder than rank 3 of this), this build can easilly be picked up in the Nebula with far better results.

After nearly a half a million boff skill points used, 10s of millions of ECs and quite a bit of IRL cash, I can; without a shadow of a doubt tell you that the Nebula is the best of the Science ships, HANDS down,

No, photonic shockwave isnt for damage, its for the stun. You know what it does right? Locks down all abilities for about 3 seconds. If you PvP, Photonic shockwave comes right before you die. Thats why Subspace decompiler is specced and not particle generator.

Ill tkae your word that the Nebula is the best science ship, I havent bought it myself, but you did ask for an Intrepid build.

And what would make it a better sience ship anyways? You trade the science Lt Com for an Eng.

Just to point out, that you are basically trading PSW for EWP, I can tell you right now, EWP is the better skill for the majority of play (yes their are times ofc),

The ability to run EPtS1x2, and ET2/A2S1 as well is just the icing
