Hi. Completely new player. Completely unable to play due to this very problem.

I am on XP.

I have checked and it does not just crashes the STO start, it also disconnected me of all the servers I am on, it even crashes my telnet sessions. Nice game you have here. Back to TOR for me

Run as administrator. It started and patched up right away. Will edit my post if it doesn't launch... but It seems so far so good.

Windows XP
Fresh re-install of STO

Oddly enough my windows 7 mox worked fine last night.

Tried and failed for a gaming night at my place. Next time I suppose...

Game still crashing.

Win 7 SP1
All windows updates minus IE9 downloaded.
Video Driver = up to date

Played fine last week. Obviously not working with a new windows update, since that is the only thing that has changed.

Glad I'm not actually paying money for this, this game goes down sooo much. I would donate, but with problems like this not getting fixed for almost a week now. This is ridiculous.

I suppose I'll reinstall STO and see if that works. I really don't want to even do that.

Edit: Tried updating Flash to 11.2 and clearing IE cache. Still not working. Have toggled almsot all options available at launcher to no avail. I need my STO fix. I need the phasers fired on my mark. I need you to get out of my chair.

Edit2: Have reinstalled STO. Still no progress. Still crashing upon 'engage'
This really sucks.

What's the crash number you're getting? It displays at the bottom of the Cryptic Error window that comes up whenever there's a crash. Thanks!

Make sure you don't have teamview in the background. ALL Cryptic games seem to not like it.

First it's a gameclient.exe crash

Then sometimes the cryptic thing pops up and the "error ticket ID" is 11478186

# 19 Fatal Error
04-03-2012, 12:19 AM
First off, I'd like to start that Perfect World's support page is not perfect... by ANY means whatsoever. In fact, it doesn't work AT ALL!

Secondly, I tried submitting a ticket twice with the pop-up from the game itself and it doesn't seam to go through.

Thirdly, what I wrote as the message:

I was surfing the dilithium store...

Error Message:
Fatal Error: Error decompressing data. Verifying Files in the launcher may fix this issue.:

Technical Details: Error decompressing data. Verifying Files in the launcher may fix this issue.:
Texture_Library/Costumes/Ships/Klg/Type3/Ship_Klg_Cruiser_Type3_Nx.Wtex:

See attached...

EDIT: So I did as the error message asked and thus far have not seen it repeat. However, I must point out that I have NEVER received anything like this from this game until the latest patch. Why would a texture file get corrupted from a patch that supposed to mainly be about server performance?
