So i got both sets took me a few days for farm the Dilithium. However i came to a conclusion.
I tested the flag ships in a 1 v 1 with a buddy of mine just to see how effective is the Bortasqu Tactical Cruiser with 5 weapon consols. So from using 1 up to 5 Consols i get about 200 dps increase by using all 5 consols. So with a single beam array I fairly hit without any buffs 700dps on this cruiser.
I didn't notice the bonus when using all 3 consols. The damage output did not increase by any means nor did i get more critical hits.
I m looking at the Odyssey Science Cruiser and have only 2 weopons consols but the ship comes with SA which stacks up to 10x. Given me a whopping 850dps on this cruiser.
Sure there is a few variables here and there but i shot on the same target with shields down to see what dps on the hull would be like. I used similar crtdx3 beam arrays mk xi and all i can say is that for a Tactical Cruiser with Tactical Set Bonus the new Klingon Flagship will get a decent whopping from a Federation Science Cruiser in terms of putting out DPS.
As usual i think Cryptics math here was more then a bit off. You would think a Cruiser with 5 weapon console slots would have the more fire power but that is not the case.
I didn't notice the Set Bonus of either one though which might not be a bad thing. Both ships are very hard to destroy if piloted by an experienced PVP Player.
Since the Bortas turns like a freaking space station the Odyssey after Saucer Seperation is the way nice ship to fly around though in a tac. But yeah i m not sure that SA should stick around on that ship since tactical buffs would insanely increase damage here if the target has a stacked SA x 10 on him and you through him a Beta, Alpha ect....
So yeah I think the Science Version is a bit OP on the new Flagships. Oh and before i forget you throw out more damage in the Sci then you do in the Odyssey Tac Cruiser as well. So why would fly somebody a Tac Cruiser in the first place ?
I was thinking of going with the sci ody on my Eng with the separation to maximize damage and maneuverability. I'd be interested in seeing the Bortasqu science variant number as well if you get a chance. Thanks
Tool tips don't update with SA. just look at the combat log. Note that the SA bonus applies after everything else. So the 33% from the 10 stacks is an actual 33% increase in damage, not like with the weapon consoles.
You supposed to get a turn bonus if you have all 3 Oddy Consoles equiped, but ive never noticed one differance tbh
It was "nerfed" on Tribble from +1 to 0.5 or something like that. Neither is really noticeable, so I am not sure what prompted that decision.
Mancom tested Sensor Analysis with the Odyssey on Tribble before the release already and the math pretty much showed off that SA is a better deal compared to one or two extra tactical consoles. It seems SA doesn't work like the usual damage strength modifiers.
It may be that this also indicates that some people underestimate SA for a "DPS" Science Vessel, but in that case, the SV has only 6 weapon slots max and never more than 3 tactical consoles. SA has to compensate a lot, obviously. +33 % DPS is about the equivalent of 2 more weapon slots for a Science Vessel, which would bring an SV DPS wise to the level of a Cruiser. (With less weapon procs change, less crits, but harder crits).
If the DPS bonus is actually applied 33 % to the "normal end damage". If it was applied like a regular damage strength modifier, the effect would be a lot less. But so far the reports indicate it is applied after the fact, so it is pretty much +33 % more damage.
