With the nerfs to the Borg stuff, should I consider moving on to MACO or Omega? Or are the nerfs to the Borg set nothing to worry about.

I've been running 3 Borg + maco shield xi. I don't run elite stuff.

I found an older post that said 2 Borg / 2 maco is the way to go now, but I just wanted some more opinions.

Thanks!

I run MACO shield +3 piece borg set on elites with no issue.

Ive got MACO MK XI set, but I just don't find the set bonuses worth it.

I use Mk XII Maco Shields and deflector, with Aegis engines for the 5% defense bonus. I think this is the best for elites still, correct me if I'm wrong?

Also, for pure dmg escorts, I think jem'hadar with polaron weaponry is the best now?

I think people suggested running 2 Borg and 2 MACO was ideal because you could get the regen abilities of the Borg 2-piece set and the energy replenish abilities of the MACO 2-piece set.

Really, you can pair any set with a Borg 2-piece set if you wanted.

A lot of people like the Tetryon Glider bonus from the Omega 2-piece set. I didn't have any points in Flow Capcitors or have any consoles that boosted this, so it was only giving me -29 per weapon per volley. The accuracy bonus was pretty negligible as well. I ended up going back to the MACO shield and deflector for the +5% subsystem energy regeneration bonus. Still use theOmega engines for the better turn rate and shorter slipstream cooldown.

What are the nerfs to the Borg set? First I've heard of it...

That's only if you use polaron weapons. And the weapon subsystem bonus isn't going to do much for someone who's already at 125. Sure, you could lower your power level and allocate 5 subsystem power to another system, but that put your weapon subsystem below 125 (which I guess isn't that big a deal).

On my Escort, I normally use MACO MK XII deflector and shield and Borg engine and console. Gives the escort a quite a bit more hull DP and since the shield regen proc from the borg 3 piece bonus doesnt fire as often as the hull regen proc, its better to have a bit more hull endurance to speed off, heal up and make another pass.

With my Cruisers I use 3 piece Borg with MACO MK XII shield. Since the cruiser can absorb a lot more damage, it gives time for both the regen procs to fire off making the shield regen proc worth having. Thus far seems to be the best setup for tanking.

Didnt really like the stats the Jem'Hedar set gave me. Without a Bug ship or Galor, found it to be pretty inferior to the MACO-Borg, OMEGA-Borg setups. I shoved that set on my Runabout to forget about unless I do The Vault or Op Gamma missions and not clutter up my bank.

The Omega set isnt too bad. Its a pretty nice set to use on fast flying escorts using hit and run tactics. I use this set often also.

I believe I said, "with Polaron weaponry..." and that 7% boost is going to give you a 7% dmg edge over ANY other setup. So to me it seems like the best for pure dmg.

No one has a comment on Aegis engines for +5% defence? I run it now on a "Dragon Flagship" in a tac ody. Would I be better off switching in borg and getting the 2-piece borg bonus?

For those of you that aren't STF min-maxers or don't feel like grinding the STFs, I think the Borg + Jem Shield with a decent DoFF setup is a doable combo. If not that, the Aegis shield.

I tried both combinations (also tac Ody Dragon build) and with Aegis engines its seems more tanky.
