since the beginning of the game I have felt that there was not adequate attention paid to the true nature and style of the weapons and defensive systems on the ships. The weapon hard points should reflect where on the ship the weapons are.
For instance on the NX class there were two forward phaser turrets and and third in the aft quarter, there were originally two torpedo launchers to the forward sections, and none in the stern. When the NX was refitted to include photonic torpedos she gained a single forward tube and a single aft tube.
In the game however there are only 3 weapon hard points, two fore, one aft. why?
Also this trend continues right up through the classes, including but not exclusive to:
and so on...
But for now lets focus on the Sovereign, in FC the Enterprise had 12 type X phaser arrays and two photon torpedo launchers, and a single forward quantum torpedo turret. After the refit before the events of Nemesis, the Enterprise and all other subsequent Sovereign class vessels were fitted with four additional phaser arrays, bringing total to 16, and a dorsal aft quantum torpedo turret. Why can these hard points not be outlined better in the game? Allowing the user to fit phasers where they belong and torpedos where they go? This has been done before in a previous Star Trek games such as Starfleet Command, why not follow and learn from that example?
The above model would also allow for more configuration including computer core selection, deflectors, warp cores, and more. I feel this would be a great addition to the game and adding a degree of individuality to each ship, how hard could it be?
Also, why can we not in a combat situation be able to do an axis rotation to be able to present a stronger shield quadrant to the attacking ship? This would allow for the addition of dorsal and ventral shields. This could also allow for the actual delegation of shield strength to each quadrant, like say aft shields 40% power while forward shields were at 60% and port, starboard, ventral and dorsal shields were all evenly distributed to 50%. or how ever the numbers would work and make sense. Could there be the addition to secondary shield grids like featured on most new vessels? Personally I would have opted for Primary Secondary and Tertiary shield grids on the new Odyssey Class.
These are questions and open-ended Statements of how I feel the ships should be modeled, and the game would benefit greatly from these examples.
1. With the last lockbox granting potential for players to get a Faction specific console on the other faction, when will we actually see the ability for those of us who have already purchased the ship with that console to claim it on the other faction? For example, Claiming the Bio-Neural Torpedo on the federation, or claiming the Anti-Matter spread on the KDF, if the player has purchased the prerequisite ship on the C-store already.
2. With new STF costume unlocks coming out, will you be making them tied to the more achievable accolades, such as the Silver Star and Starfleet Cross, that way that people who have been working diligently to earn gear and accolades can be rewarded with some complete visuals?
