This. If you're burned out, just play something else for a few days/weeks.
Last year I stopped playing for over a month and a half. When I came back it almost seemed fresh.
I had a longer pause last year 2 months i believe, and i really needed a couple of days to acclimatize myself again, because there was the new DOFF system and other small changes here and there.
And year, taking a small pause really helps sometimes.
you could try playing Space Empires 5. I love it! It's one of my favorite games ever.
Tried SE4 last year. Ship customization, tactical battles and empire management options were great. However the AI for some reason fails to keep up with my tech development leading to wierd cases where advanced starships are battling hundreds of low tech fighters.

Try playing SE5 with Balance Mod. It's got MUCH better AI.
take a 3-4 month hiatus thats what I did. Cryptic needs a lot of time to get any meaningful content out, when you've done it all take a siesta and come back.

There was a great Star Trek mod i used to play for a long time, but i don't know if it is still around somewhere.
The great thing about this game is that even i where able to mod it to a certain degree (ships and game balance).
I am playing TOR now, the money I was putting aside for this game now pays for that subscription. Seeing as i'm I lifer, sto costs me nothing so I can come back every now and then.
I wont spend any money on sto again, that much I can say....

Live long and prosper.
GOOD NEWS! I have made a lot of progress on creating a Star Trek mod for SE5. there's a playable version available for DL.

Can you send me a PM or post a link here, that would be nice!
I find it sad somehow, that there aren't any (good) Star Trek RPGs around, couriosly Star Wars has much better RPGs than Star Trek (which is much more centered around believable people IMO).
A game just like STO, but only as single player game, with no other players which you depend on or having silly names, wearing silly uniforms or dancing on ESD consoles, would be great.
If such a single player game would be open ended, had growing contend and a open universe i would quit playing STO instantly!
If that game could be moded just as easily as the Space Empires series (especially like SE:4) it would be awesomely cool.
Sorry for being completely off topic.
im waiting for a romulan faction, playing foundry missions, sometimes i run through an STF (for fun, not the grind), testing my torpedo boat in PVP, and that's about it.
some foundry missions stink, but there are also many awesome ones, with this trek feeling and everything..
Doff system is not very appealing to me, and the new mining stuff... im not here to work
dillithium? when i want something, i buy it.
there is nothing really interesting to craft.. believe me, i have this also maxed out..
also - bought a lifetime on "the secret world", coming on june 19 i think.
