# 1 Escorts Parking On your Rear.

I know there are ways to discourage it.

I would like to hear some ideas on the best ways to discourage Escorts from parking on your rear during PvP.

Evasive maneuvers, reverse and turn right or left. Instant broadside.
Dump chroniton mines as you do your slide job.

Have team mates that don't suck.
Learn the secret to proper healing and tanking. (ie not wasting all your heals on yourself constantly when you are getting shot at.. find the balance between letting your Resistances do the job, and patching yourself up as necessary)

Profit

Don't forget "evasive manuevers in a can (TM)", aka the only reason to run the dilithium depot mission periodically.

And just reversing over the escort will mess it up.

It depends what you fly. If you have a cruiser and you're chased by an escort, just evasive won't always work, if the escort pilot is very good. A good escort pilot would be not less then 1-1.5 km away. He will adjust speed with yours and quickly reverse too, if necessary. If in a cruiser, you could also try a reverse with warp plasma pee, at least you may have a chance to catch that escort with no omega and he. My preferred method is not to reverse, it to accelerate enough to get him broadside, then let the beams do the work. An escort alone won't last as long as a cruiser, so IMO being able to tank him for 20ish secs would either kill him, either chase him away.

If you're an escort chased by escort, it may be easier, and best todos are in Husanak's thread:

In my sci ship, my favorite tactic is to target their weapons, PSW them then tractor and turn around while they are stunned to subnuke and kill This is when I am pugging. If I am teamed. I just tractor and ask my teammate to finish them off.

If you are attacked from behind by surprise you don't have the time to react against a fast escort.
The most important thing is to get out of range of the lethal DHC and resist the first barrage, so in my Dreadnought I use a simple emergency keybind with TT1, EPtE1 and EPtS3, hoping that it's enough.
Then you can broadsiding and counterattack.
And good luck if you're fighting a Bop targh pack...

That would be an ambush. I'm pretty sure the OP is talking about those escorts, that very wisely (in most cases) park in the rear firing arc for extended periods of time. You can either counter, and try to get the escort into a more favorable firing arc, or try to keep your resistances going (which won't work for long).

Ah, there is a shared cooldown between the two emergency powers but I don't know when attacked if my shields are at full strenght, then I can run away or enhance my shields...not both...

Unfortunately a lone cruiser can't do nothing, only resist as much as possible if surrounded by the targhs...
Anyway a good cruiser will always win against a single escort, but two escorts are a big challenge...

You're a cruiser pilot, right? Remember EP2S isn't just a heal, it's a resistance. Also remember, the shared cooldown with EP2E is only 15 seconds. Therefore, you can start chaining them before you are ever in combat and keep 100% uptime on both. If you are being butt-camped by an escort, you already have both of those abilities going and can use evasives, APO, Aux2ID, etc... maybe a tractor beam or subsystem targetting to disrupt the escorts ability to outmaneuver you.

This helps with ambushes too. If you have basic resistance going, when you hear the bop-pack decloaking, it can give you those extra few seconds you need to activate your maneuvers/attack patterns/hull resists/2nd level shield resists. Yes, BOPs will still get you sometimes, but it doesn't have to be every time.
