Yeah, that's right. Level 50 PvP, but everybody unequips their boffs first. Only Captain skills and innate abilities of the ships are allowed.

Just had a try with someone from the Opvp channel, and Engineer in a fleet escort vs my engineer in an assault cruiser.

On thing that may not come as a surprise, but I want to mention it nevertheless: Even with a build highly optimized for boffless (numiri shield array, 2 shield amplifiers, 8 phaser beam arrays, 3 phaser relays), I did not really have a chance in my cruiser, as he simply out-dpsed any shield regeneration before I could out-dps his.

Still a fun way to fight, though. One just would have to run escorts against escorts, because any other type of ship just won't keep up with them.

The ships are balanced around the boffs so no there would not be much balance flying varying types of shps.

Sounds like you would have more fun doing a shuttle match.

There was a time when people would have matches of lower tiered ships as well... so all end game toons everyone in the tier 2 ship of their choice type thing.

I really need to get around to hosting shuttle wars.

Those are the only ships really balanced around "no boffs" as they only have 2 boff abilities.

Now, that sounds like fun!

Eliminate all abilities including captain abilities. Fly with no tray. Just shoot, fly, distribute shields and power levels. You could also take this to another level and only allow certain tier ships such as tier 2. This can work with any tier ship even mixing tiers if you have enough players to balance it out.

I'm going to have to echo this sentiment. Sounds like negative fun, to me, to be honest.

I started this post and was about to mention the large supply of Coke's and Gladiator movies I have in my ready room and then I realized that in my haste I had misread the OP as "topless PVP 'and now I realize all my hopes are dashed.

Well if anyone starts a topless PVP thread I'll be sure to chime in.
