One of my biggest 'regret' purchases was the Delta-class Shuttle. It's nice, but I never really use it.
It feels far too large relative to other ships, making it seem that much more flimsy in comparison.

I love my Type-10 Chaffee Shuttle from the DS9 pack.

All of my Klingons use the To'Duj Fighter, which is small and nimble and 'feels' Klingon to me.

If I were RP'ing as a Maquis, I suppose the Peregrine might not be too bad, but it doesn't scream 'Federation' to me the way the Type-8, Type-10 or Danube-class Runabout does.

I use the Peregrine fighter, too. I loaded her out with Dual Cannons, a Turret, and a full set of Omega Force equipment, and she's flown true every time (even against all the Swarmers).

As a Shuttle lover and one who honestly believes we need a separate shuttle bay for the shuttles rather than take up full size ship slots...but that's another thread entirely.

As for the "best" shuttle i can honestly say

Delta Flyer Type:

Primary equipment:
- 2800 dominion poloron array
- Jem'hadar shields
- Jem'hadar deflector
- Harpang Torpedo

Consoles:
Any consoles that improve kinetic and poloron damage combined with the red matter injector

Not only does this offer the various buffs from the Jem'hadar set (including weapon damage) but essentially give the little Delta Flyer a combative boost that will put this shuttle on par with a full size T1 (or possibly T2) ship in terms of both weapon output and crew ability.

With this in mind you could potentially swap out the Delta Flyer for an Runabout and to a lesser extent the Vulcan Science runabout abet with significantly reduced raw weapon capability.

I like the Delta becuase of it's 2 BOff slots

A skilled out BOff skill will generally have shorter recharge time than a built-in skill.

The Breen Transphasic Cluster Torpedo is also decent on a shuttle when fighting other small craft.

Honestly, you cannot go wrong with either.

The delta has two BOFF slots, and 1 is universal.

So you can take FAW, just like you would on the Yellowstone.

And then you have a second Science station, which means you can

A) Use a tractor beam, just like the Yellowstone.

B) Choose another Sci skill like TSS 1, or HE 1.

The Yellowstone and Danube Runabouts have served me well! So I usually prefer them. although i need to give The Defiant Shuttle a try!

Most of mine use the delta flyer as I crafted it. Looks good with the reman shield colouration and makes a good home for the cluster torp.

The KDF get the fighter, shuttles a bit too much like a wedge of cheese shape for a warrior to be taken seriously.

All the shuttles are too big in comparison to actual ships. But, IIRC, all the shuttles are appropriately sized compared to the other shuttles.

if you are going to spend CP on a shuttle get a Thunderchild. Its an escort class, not a shuttle, but it comes with a Point Defense universal console that will turn the meekest type 8 into the terror of small crafts. After that it is just a matter of personal taste for the various designs available... Personally I prefer the Danube.
