I have a Vice Admiral Science captain already, having fun in the Recon Science ship.

I have an Engie in the 30's and a Tac captain hot on his heels, and I am am trying to decide what to do with my c-points. I have right about 2500.

I do wanna grab that Nebula retrofit for my Sci captain eventually, but right now i think i am going to prioritize getting a ship that BOTH my Engie and Tac caps will enjoy when they get a little higher.

I suspect the answer may be MVAE or Dreadnought Cruiser? What say you?

I can't speak for an Engineering captain, but the MVAM Prommie is fantastic for both Tactical and Science captains.

Yeah, i had read some positive reviews of Multi-Vector for Science guys. Maybe I'll go ahead and grab MV while its on sale now and get my Sci into it. Then get back to makin dilithium for a good cruiser for my Engie when he hits VA.

Dreadnought is still solid choice for Engie?

From what I have read, Dreadnought is really best for Tactical captains because of the Spinal Lance.
I read that the DPS output from it was orders of magnitude better for Tac Captains. Having not tried it for myself, I can't speak with any authority one way or another.

That having been said, just about anything with sufficient hull points (Dreadnought, Oddy, even the Retrofit Exploration) would be a good Tanking candidate for a Science Captain.

Well, maybe instead of Excelsior, go get an Odyssey Tac? Looks like the Excel's advantage there is just the turn rate...Odyssey gets another console slot, and the flexibility on the BOffs?

And here i'm thinking more in terms of my Tac and Engie captains, not so much for the Sci.

I meant to write, "Tanking candidate for an Engineering captain." Significant error on my part.

Comparing the three most engineering-oriented Vice-Admiral ships:

I'm in the same boat for my Klingon Tactical Officer. Its a very tough question to answer. My Fed' engie does really well in a Tier 5.5 Excel'. But thats just me.

I highly recommend a Garumba for your TAC

To the OP - I just leveled up a SCI and TAC captain and picked up the Advanced Escort with my RA tokens and it works really well for both of them in STF's - so the MVAE would be a good choice for all 3 of your Captains

I also bought a T5 Excelsior during the C-Point sale and love it! (vs Ody or Gal-X) as I prefer snappier turning cruisers (I have Free Ody and never use it)

I have all of the different Escorts between my toon's so here is my suggestion on how to spend your C-bucks

SCI - Buy your SCI an Advanced Escort by converting C-Points to Dilithium (~450)

TAC and ENG - get them a T5 Excelsior while on sale and pick up an AE for your TAC and a Fleet Escort for ENG with your RA tokens.

Neither.

The Excelsior is really good for Tac captains, due to its relatively high turn rate for a cruiser + Lt Com Tac Boff slot.
