I do wanna grab that Nebula retrofit for my Sci captain eventually, but right now i think i am going to prioritize getting a ship that BOTH my Engie and Tac caps will enjoy when they get a little higher.

I suspect the answer may be MVAE or Dreadnought Cruiser? What say you?
Excelsior, your wont get the mlg out of the GalX as an engieer, and to answer the question in this thread, you are looking at the difference of about 50,000 to about 15,000 (Tac vs Eng Lance damage).

Though the MVAM works well with all 3, good sci powers, good damage and the eng captain can increase its survivability,

The same goes for the Nebby a really well rounded ship.

MVA ship or the Excelsior seem to be the best overall ship.

Yeah if I followed my head I'd choose either of them too.

But I chose my heart and went for the Galaxy dreadnought. I feel happy just looking at it I think playing it will add to my longevity and well being :p

If I bought the Excelsior or the MVA ship I would hate just looking at either of them. I just dislike the design. MVA looks okay enough but when they separate they look like layer of wafer. The Excelsior to me look kind of dated.

Galaxy dreadnought though looks kind of over the top with the addition of third nacelle and cannon 'antenna' IS the ship that Admiral Riker commanded in the final episode of TNG. It brings nostalgic memories about TNG and the time when the show was aired. Good old times.

I even equip my Galaxy-X with a single dual heavy phaser cannon fore and do not replace the cloak console(standard configuration for weapons) and PvPed with it. I'm pretty happy even if I get blown up. So far the ship is NOT stellar or as stellar as a complete set Bortasqu but it's not pathetic either. It just doesn't excel but certainly not a pathetic ship. I'm happy flying the Galaxy-X that's all that matters the most to me

I have purchased the following:

Nebula Refit
Long Rang Science Refit
Galaxy X
Garamba
Multivector Escort
San Paulo (For Quad Cannon)

I pretty much do STFs exclusively. Outside of Cure Elite Space, the MVAE is the best for KA and Infected for Feds and the Garamba is best for Klingons. (I can be persuaded that the Raptors and Birds of Preys could be Better for Klings) Cure requires a healer and 4 damage dealers so again escorts are highly preferred. All of my toons regardless of class are in these ships. This game is all about dps. Start with XI purple cannons in front and purple Xi turrets in back and the same 4 tac consoles. Work up to XII borgs all around. Pretty soon you notice that you get Infected optional 50-70% of the time and Dinatra dies really quickly. A properly built escort crushes everything else dps wise as the devs designed. After you are done do a Red Alert for fun and watch how you can blow away the Unimatrix in 2 minutes. Do the feature episodes on normal and stuff dies in like 5 to 10 seconds. You start to feel sorry for the poor Gemadars because they just don't have a chance.

The problem with this game is that when you are leveling you are trained to go in cruisers. I did it with my first tac. You are so worried about dying that you don't notice that it takes forever to kill the bad guys. Also, the lower level escorts are really problematic. So then you go into Elite STFs with your dreadnaught in a TAC and it takes forever to burn spheres and transformers and probes and you let your group down.

I have run into a few guys who are running Ody Refits/Galaxy Xand are TACs that have earned my respect. But only maybe 2% of tacs in escorts impress me. Also, Ody is all about being a tank so again you are a support craft to the damage dealers. Kling Carriers are AWSOME to disable the cubes with energy drones. But be aware you are a support craft for the damage dealers and will do very poor dps.

I ended up getting a MVAE, Excelsior, and Nebula retrofit lol.

Currently trying to figure out the puzzle of how to make a Nebula most useful in the ESTFs, and leveling my Engie towards getting in the Excel.

MVAE and Excelsior GOOD CHOICE. Any logical person would choose those two

Those 3 ships a lot of c-points :p with those u could have the set Odyssey and enjoyed the set bonus

But I know much more fun with those MVAE, Excelsior and Nebula retrofit

Excelsior is just a fantastic ship. I hear a lot of peeps talking about how its really a tac captain oriented ship, but ive gone back and forth between the t5 excel and assault cruiser, and as an ENG captain, I just find that LtC Tac Boff slot too useful to pass up. Theres also the great turnrate for a cruiser. She really does dish out the punishment if you set it up right and you can tank like a beast to boot.
