# 1 Tactical Kar'Fi carriers?

Hey everybody,

Been playing fed for a few months, primarily cannon escort or beam array cruiser. I wanted to try out the KDF side, so i rolled a Tac. I was looking at the carriers, and i was wondering if it was pretty common to run a Tac with the Kar'Fi. I see that it only has a LCdr and Lt Tac station, and that looks like it gimps my abilities a bit.

It looks like if i try and make it work, then my focus would end up being DPS/CC. Tykens, GW, TB, HE and TSS are the abilities i was looking at. For weapons i was thinking about 3 DHC, 1 chroniton torp up front and 3 turrets in back. Also for my talents i took the obvious dps talents, but i also buffed my particle gen and aux performance. As a tradeoff i wasnt able to take energy/projectile weapon specialization, only half of targetting systems, but i did max starship weapon performance.

So assuming properly geared and with a skilled player, will a Tac Kar'fi be doing the same dps as the multicolor boats?

I guess if i cant make it work, i can run a B'Rel, but then it would be close to the same as my escort setup.

let me know what you guys think...

Much higher than that by itself, and the fighters and freighters add DPS on top of that.

My Kar'fi seems to do decently well with my Tac captain, with a AP cannon, turrets, and beam arrays (hold overs from running a Bortas). Though, I've only had it a couple of days and have been running mainly PUG normal STFs with it. It doesn't seem as focused on Sci than the Vo'Quv carrier I had before it, and so seems a much better fit for my Tac capt. with things like +10 power to weapons, extra Tac console, and the extra weapon slot. It's a fun toy.

Yah right now i am doing the undine/borg episodes. The only thing i dont like which is minor, is that i can summon the first half of my frigates when i zone in to space, but then have to wait another 45 seconds before i can summon the other half. Also another thing i noticed is that each time i summon 2 of my frigates, it puts phase shift on its 3 minute CD. So i cant start a STF and just phase shift and park in front of a bad guy.

Ehh only minor though, so far i seem to be doing ok. Gonna get some more gear and then get ready to do some normal STFs.

At least for PvE you can easily equip the Karfi like an Escort with 3 dual heavy cannons front and 3 turrets back, the turn rate is high enough for that. Then the DPS is on par with any escort. You are missing on a Commander Tac Skill, but the fighters make up for that.

I haven't tried it in PvP yet, I'm guessing the turn rate is too low for that there. Planning on equipping it with power drain drones and skills /beam arrays for that, but I still have some STF grinding ahead of me before I start worrying about that.

u will need the doff that reduces hangar cd's...must have!

Kar'fi is a superb alternative to piloting an escort, your setup seems solid. i run it as a torpedo boat with lots of energy drain abilities and plasma torpedos or photons (2 parts of KHG set). be sure to have one AUX to inertial dampeners, to do fast turns when necessary. i usually use the kamikaze fighters, or 1 frigate one fighter.

be adviced that against escorts in pvp u won't stand a chance, u will never bring those cannons on target.

i find the kar fi works well with all classes tact does well in kar fi i fly all 3 in kar fi best ship in the game so far

Odd. Mine doesn't have a cooldown on the phase shift activate for anything except hitting phase shift. I can launch fighters, frigates, and siphons without it going into cooldown. Though, being in a tractor beam grays it out until I get let go.

I think i may have been mistaken, it looks like it is working ok now. For the DoFF luckily for me i do have 1 that improves hanger recharge times or w/e. I had a bunch of C points already saved up and i just said screw it and bought a B'Rel and a bunch of XI gear for it. BUT on normals i get aggro so fast, even if i wait before dpsing, that i have a harder time keeping up the B'Rel then i do my Defiant Tac.

So tomorrow i am gonna switch all the gear into my Kar'Fi and try again. About my spec though, i respec'd and took out the points from the talents that buff science abilities. Do you guys think i should respec to go back to that, so my GW, Tykens and tractor beam are more effective? or is it not that much of a difference since i'm a Tac?

The Karfi makes a great boat for drainin power, you slip some power suckin ability with some polarons and add some frigates in the mix and you got insta-death comin yer way.

My only gripe is I wish i could alter how it looks a wee bit...and they haven't fixed the engine bug after all this time either when you go to full impulse.

Other than that it can reak hell in the right hands, and a tac capt does wonders for it.

This. Spec it in flow cap. and run siphon drones. Last time in ESTF one guy in Kar'Fi shot down(all power) the tac cube took half of its health down before we destroyed the gate.
