Good day.

I am finding it hard to buy cyrptic points now. I dont know who thought of the points system and relation to real world dollars.

With that said. I suggest that the exchange from Zen to Cryptic points be taken away. Paying 20 buck for 2000 Zen then exchanging it to 1600 Cryptic points is a rip off. That is why i dont wanna buy it anymore.

Secondly. I tried to find Cryptic points card. None of the game places knows what cryptic is. Which leads me to assume Cryptic does not sell cards. Does Cryptic Studio have a system to buy cryptic point? If not, i suggest you set one up. With better points per dollar.

To buy the 3 Odyssey Class ships in bulk to save money is 4000 CP. Buying Zen at 20 dollars a card is 2000, 1600 after Exchange to CP. I would have to buy 60 buck in Zen which gets me 6000 Zen. After exchange of Zen to CP is 4800!! To me that is a rip off!!!

I hope you can see why it would make me upset now. If you want i can price up all ship you need to buy with cryptic points and do the math to show you what i would have to pay to purchuse all ships. That also would include Klingon ships too.

Quick response is requested.

Thank you for you time. Jason

sigh this has been gone over many many times - cryptic points have always been 80 cpoints to the dollar (don't know why they went with such an odd conversion but there we are.). similarly zen has for as long as i can recall been 100 points for a dollar. the current method of purchasing cpoints is to buy zen and convert it - you get 80 cpoints for 100 zen/ 1 dollar. You are not losing anything in the translation and noone is ripping you off. simple math and a little investigation would have highlighted this too you. to reiterate 100 zen = 80 cpoints.

with regard to the cost of the ships - the price is the price - even under the old direct purchase of cpoints from cryptic the ships would have cost 4000 cpoints = 50 x 80 = 50 bucks. under the new method. now 1 dollar still gets you 80 cpoints, except you have to get zen first in this case 50 bucks will 5000 zen which still get you 50 x 80 cpoints = 4000

again to reiterate 1 zen point is NOT the same as 1 cpoint and never was. 1 dollar continues to get you the same value of cpoints as it did before the pwe purchase of cryptic.

as of yet PWE has not enforced it's policy of the 100 points per dollar onto cryptic games (but i imagine it is in the pipeline) and I would surmise that when they do the prices in the c-store may in fact rise as a result.

Edit: or rather they will appear to rise although in dollar terms they would still cost the same - e.g if the odyssey bundle was on sale for zen, it would cost 5000 zen. which is still 50 bucks

No. It. Is. Not.

100 Zen = $1. 80 C-points = $1. Therefore 100 Zen = 80 C-points.

625 Zen converts into 500 C-points. $6.25 buys 500 C-points. You get exactly the same amount of C-points whether you buy them from Cryptic or exchange Zen for them.

It's basic math. Really, it is.

As stated, there is no loss in ZEN to C-points conversion. 100 Zen is $1 and 80 C-points is 1$, $1 = $1.

2000 Zen is $20 and 1600 C-Points is $20, they are worth exactly the same.

They will probably require everyone to switch to a PWE account at some point and change C-points to ZEN, and this confusion will end.

IIRC, they went with the 80 to a dollar conversion because the game was originally planned to be released for XBox as well and that is the conversion rate that Microsoft uses for points.

And a Star Trek Online Easter Sale for Zen? Really? If the sale is for Star Trek just tell us Cryptic points. I don't want to be reminded that this game is now part of Perfect World's collection. Send your Zen sale emails to Perfect World subscribers.

XBL isn't the only one that uses the 80:1 conversion. There's actually some moderately insidious marketing logic built in. It's less obvious what the effective dollar prices involved are, and it's easier to set prices in such a way that it's harder to zero out your balance. The last 5-10 points sitting on your account then helps kick in the sunk cost fallacy which can make a lot of people spend another few dollars to get the last few cents worth of their previous purchase (or outsource the process with the dilithium exchange).

If $1 is 100 zen, $15 would be.... And, if you mean what are the amount of C-points... If there are 80 points to a dollar, then 15 dollars would be...

(C'mon, its basic math.. *please* tell me schools aren't getting this bad..)

PWE store gives a 300 ZEN bonus when you buy 50$.

50$ = 5300 ZEN = 4240 CP (1$ = 84,8 CP)

I did it a couple days BEFORE the CP/ZEN discount...

If I have done it about two days later:

50$ = 5000+300+750 = 4990 CP (1$ = 99,8 CP)

and the CP shop discount would make my 4990 CP...

4990/0.8 = 6237,5

During the promotion I could have bought items worth 6237 CP with 50$

6237/50 = (1$ = 124,74 CP)

Conclusion: I am not buying ZEN at 50$ per 5300 ever again.
