ok so i am a little unhappy that i am a vice admiral and i can not have a ship my level without paying actual money. i am almost homeless and cant find work this game is my stress release needless to say i cant afford to buy a good ship that is my level and it is going to take forever to get 2000 CP on dilithium exchange. so i was wondering if any new ships will be released for vice admirals that dont require cash, also i was wondering if they would be class specific ships not like the odyssy where it is the same ship but a little different..

Short answer, probably not.
Long answer- when the game went F2P they introduced dilithium, which replaced all the badges and marks that you used to get for end game missions. Dilithium can be converted to CP on the dilithium exchange. You can still get a ship for free you'll just have to grind for it.

Personally, I don't think you actually need one of the VA ships... I mainly fly a (c-store) rear admiral ship, it 's not a VA ship, but I like to think it gets the job done just as well..
Some would say certain RA ships actually perform better then the next VA/c-store ship.. many seem to prefer the Deep Space Science Vessel which is a RA, free ship over the VA/c-store Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit for example.. guess it 's all down to what you do with it, but I think you can do the same with most RA ships then you would with a VA ship.

Disclaimer: I only started playing since F2P, so I can be terribly wrong..

The free ships aren't worse than the C-Point ships. They all have 9 consoles still, they have an alternate but same ranks for BOFF layout.

Any new ship that comes out, will most likely be a special limited offer like the Odyssey Prototype or Cost C-Points.

Now I don't know what Class you play or which ship you fly. But 2000 points means Odyssey , MVAE or Dreadnought.

As much as I love the MVAE I just got, it's only real advantage over the plain AE is the Lt.Com Sci station and not it's Multi Vector Mode which is pure gimick.

The Dreadnought is essentially the Assault Cruiser with less turn, DHC capability, and a Big Honking Spinal Lance. In fact my tanking Cruiser is the Assault Cruiser and I've outperformed several Dreads who didn't appear to know what they where doing.

And finally the Odyssey, this is the hardest ship to pigeon hole as it is a super adaptive Cruiser. But as for DPS your going to do more in an Escort most of the time.

for the most part i fly a sovergn with mark 12 anti proton weapons i have a mark 11 maco shield and the engine and deflecter dish are the borg set what i dont like is i am just too damn squishy i have seen escorts last longer than me. i am a tactical officer by the way. it is possible that my spec is all wrong but i dont think so and i am not getting any prototype drops for mark 12 shields and whatnot dispite over 200 elite runs. at this point i dont know what i can do to not be a squishy cruiser.

You should not be "squishy" compared to an escort in a Sovereign. You've probably got some tweaking that could be done. You're using one of the best shield/set combos available. However, the one thing you don't mention- which I would strongly recommend- is the Borg console from "Assimilated." It's easy to get and will give you the Borg 3-piece bonus to boost your shields.

As for the prototype drops, that doesn't have anything to do with your build. The drop rate is just really low. You have to keep at it. Having said that, the MkXII gear is not that much different than the Mk XI. IMHO, the only real advantage to the Mk XII is the cool costume options you get for the ground set.

1) I sincerely hope you find a job soon.

2) With your free time, you should be able to consistently tuck away enough dilithium to get a new ship from the store.

3) The sovereign is fine ship, I have friends who own multiple C-store cruisers and still prefer their Sovereign.

If you are squishy in a Sovvy vs an Escort, then the problem might not be with the ship, but with your BoFF layout or your ability rotation. Maybe list your Boffs and what abilities you have trained them on and people can critique it?

Free Rear-Admiral ships and C-store Rear/Vice-admiral ships are the same tier. The only differences are aesthetics, special consoles, different BO layouts and certain special gimmicks. The hull strength and the numbers of weapon hardpoints, console slots and bridge officer abilities you have access to are the same for ships of both ranks.

The only exceptions are the Flagships with a little more hull and an additional console slot.

I fly the Sovereign. I have since I hit RA last year, and short of a 2409'ed version of that ship, there is absolutely nothing Cryptic can offer me posing as a so-called "Vice Admiral ship" that will get me out of the Reprisal's centre chair.

The Sovereign remains a brilliant ship, and amongst the prettiest.
