So, I'm redoing the one 2800 mission where you have to disable the clusters under DS-9 before going to the worm hole.
I just did the mission and got the Deflector and now I want the shields.
Knowing how much of a pain those swarms are, I put my Point Defense Turret on my shuttle and this basically one-shots those Jem'Hadar fighters that but you while you disable the things under DS-9.
My MK-X Phaser Beam Array doesn't even do that. Even my MK-X rare Quantum Torpedos are no one-shot kill, but this turret is...
Not complaining but what is the deal with this thing? I got it when I bought one of the Commander Escort refits.
It works great, and makes a nice finishing attack against larger taregets once the shields are down (and use a tractor beam to get the target to stand still)... But then there's that 3 minute cool-down, as well as limited range...
The Point Defense Turret has special damage modifiers for smaller crafts like fighters and and frigates...gets a huge boost against fighters and shuttles.
I love the Thunderchild PDS, that's the only C-store ship I've bought so far and that console goes on every ship I get.
It's also crazy useful in the shuttle missions like the Vault and the Gamma Quadrant one - when the native creatures turn hostile and you have to kill them the PDS just evaporates them in seconds
I have it too, very worthwhile. I seldom use it, but whenever i'm doing FvK I slot it to massacre the klingon cheese. Works on fighters, dronespam, russian satellites, etc. Then I evasive away, cloak, swap it back out, and come back with my alpha build.
