# 1 Emegency Alert for STF players
04-11-2012, 02:50 AM
Be on the lookout for players who are intentionally sabotaging the optional STF objectives, and sabotaging the STFs in general.

Just left one in Infected Space, the players were not doing anything about the nanite shpis, and the map was full of them.

Earlier, a player intentionally failed the KA Sp Otional by using Evasive Maneuvers and TBR to push Probes into the time vortex.

Be careful fellow players.

I'm trying to not sound like a douche here, but really: You're just figuring this out now?

This has been an issue since day 1 of the new STF's, and since the community does not want a Vote option, we are just gonna have to love with it.

This is one of the reason why I run most of my STFs during offpeak hours.

No lame whiners, no saboteurs, all 100% appreciative pilots.

You know, I usually run about a STF a day, at varying times and I had literally never seen an STF saboteur until today. I had thought them to be overreactions by most players, and indeed, most of the times when people on teams called someone a saboteur they were completely wrong. Poor player does not equal saboteur.

That being said, on Khitomer Accord ground I had a teammate on a pug just go running right through the groups of borg strait to the final room, popping the start of the optional objective, and then he just stood there waiting for us to catch up. It was crazy. Do people really get enjoyment out of wasting time like this?

Sometimes people don't even sabotage actively, they're just too stupid or lazy to actually do anything besides firing on primary objectives. Yesterday I ragequit a space KA because four dudes did not manage to stop the probes on "their" side, even after I begged in team chat two or three times for one of them to please take care of the probes.

I can't count the times I've almost died while killing nanites in Infected space because not one of the four other guys thought it necessary to take aggro of the normal spheres off me.

Another strange fellow kept circling the Kang even after two of the three cubes were dead, he wasn't even just AFK or idling because sometimes he flew 5 klicks to fire on a BOP but he was not able to understand that an escort already taking care of the BOPs means he doesn't have to circle the Kang.

There's a lot of players who, I guess, play with their chat minimized to maximize their "immersion". I guess. And a same number of players is just unable to understand their surroundings and "get" what is going on and that maybe helping out the cruiser who's DPS clearly can't take care of nanites fast enough would be a good idea. And so on.

Just normal MMO people

This is all made up for by the many, many great teams you get. Seriously, noobs who don't want to learn and ********s are not the majority here IMO.

I totally just had the Red Alert wormhole scene from the Motion Picture play in my head.... and it went on for just as long.

To try to minimize the amount of D-bags I encounter I joined the EliteSTF channel and have been able to find a good amount of players for the most part.

You do still run into the occasional jerk that only wants to try to wreck things for other players but they are outed in the Channel and added to my ignore list.

I try to give players that are outted the benefit of the doubt and will try to run missions with them to see if they in fact just there to wreck runs for other players before I pass judgment on them.

The channel was getting bad for a bit but has been picking up since players have been working to weed out saboteurs and bailers.

To the OP:

If you encounter this type of behavior from other players in the future report them for harassment and try to get the rest of your team to report them has well.

In the end I think your best option will be just to add them to your ignore list and move on.

Good Hunting

Can't say i've been unlucky enough to run into an actual saboteur.

Just people that either dont listen/read or cant understand. This is why I always keep my eye on either the gate, the nanites, or the kang. about 40% of the time I have to go back and do these objectives myself. Just how the world works!

either way i'm just happy as long as I get it finished.
