# 1 Carriers

Hello, just a new player wondering about late game ships.
1.)would it be possible for an engineer to use the Vo'Quv effectively? it seems to be a science vessel(due to the officers and consoles)but also has a decent amount of engineers.

2.)would it also be possible by chance for a tactical character to use the Kar'fi effectively?

reasons i ask this is because i have both an engineer and tactical klingon character, but my final goals of this game are to fly carriers....so in order to use them the best, or even effectively should I just go science?

Another question is what are the differences of say an engineer flying a science ship compared to a science character flying a science vessel? AKA what are the advantages/disadvantages of flying certain ships with certain characters.

Thanks so much for the answers(:

my level 50 KDF alt exclusively flys the different carriers.... theres no problem that an engineer cant fly them effectively. I've even run a lot of STF's with him and it doesnt go kaboom often.

to me science chars would be the ultimate "spam support ships" carrier guys, with their photonic fleet ability

Well one advantage is that sci abilities like, photonic fleet or subnuc are affected by aux power. Sci ships have a 15 power boost on auxiliary, which can make a difference. Hint, Aux is very helpful on carriers. reduces launch recharge time.

Tacs in escorts. Things go boom super fast, but you die alot quicker, so kill before they kill you.

Eng and cruisers are kinda built for eachother. they have lots of heals that bounce around each other. Miracle worker heals stuff pretty good.

Any Captain can fly any ship and do well.

It's all about Build and intent for both the ship and the captain.

While yes a Tac in an Escort will do more DPS than an Eng or Sci in the same Escort with the exact same build and weapons. That's not to say a Sci won't be able to pull off more tricks or an Eng won't be able to take more of a pounding.

Your best off going to the Klingon Fleetyards for Carrier advice. Also a Tac in a Kar'fi and an Engineer in a Carrier are both tried and true designs.

There is no problems with any combination of ship and Captain's Career. Each is viable. Each combo provides a unique game play. I should know I have a max level character for every combination of ship type and captain.
