Hey Cygone, was trying out the build today and I find it really good. I tweaked it a bit to fit a sci off better (reduced points in armour for example because of scattering field) and it seemed to work exceptionally well in CSE. 5 NV spawned and the GW/EWP/PSW3 completely screwed with them and as soon as one died they all blew up. Now I'm fairly certain that is the definition of high DPS.

Also, the new changes to grav well really help with this build. You can knock stuff away from the grav well with PSW and it gets drawn right back in.

Here's another reason. Just modified your build to combine with some ideas from the pvp guide to get this.

Going to give the Nebula a whirl once the next C-Store sale or when the boss gives me the okay.

Oops my bad: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skil...=Excelion_1300

Went for more +power talents and scaled back on some resists out of preference. This is a PVE tanking build, hence the FAW beamspam. I'd change weapon and tac boffs if I bring her to PVP, but I have my AE for that.

Just fly an escort OP. People really need heals in PVE? Elite STF's? The only time I need heals in an escort in STFs are when the Raptor and Klingon battleship pop out at the same time and then it's hull heals I want. The funny thing people in this game don't seem to realize is Escorts with Tac team, AP Omega, high defense, regen shields with weapons & shields set at 125, the same TSS2 and HE1 as a crusier, etc efc, tank as well or better than crusiers/ sci ships while delivering far far more damage in both PvP and PVE. Your PSW3/ 2 beam & turret setup is laughable next to this. Sad but the math don't lie. (Grav Well is nice to have in elite STF's though. Kinda a joke in PvP though even when trying to tractor someone in it.)

As for PvP you can either rock your 15second Sci Team spam or the alternative a 15 second Tac team spam (shared cooldown). Both are good options but there are pro's and con's to consider. On one hand, an ability like Sci team 3 does make for a nice burst heal but your heals will tend to get wasted a little more than say using an ability like Transfer Shield Strength 3 (worst case you throw you Sci Team 3 on someone with full shields in 3 facings and 0 in one facing). Also when getting focus fired your going to die a little quicker than someone with Tac Team on a 15second cooldown. But like I said both are good options.

I think the entire point of this thread is to prove that Escorts aren't the only viable setups.

Look at your Math, Run the numbers. 50k PSW3 spike damage is hardly laughable, and Photons + DOFFs beat Dual Heavy Cannons when you're firing on Structures/Hull.

Sci Ships or Cruisers can slot Photons just as easilly as Escorts can. The difference is that Sci ships have fewer weapon hardpoints, but can strip shields or use extra damaging abilities such as PSW3 or GW to boost their DPS instead to make up for it (plus Sensor Analysis, etc).

Personally I usually opt for Tac Team over Sci Team, and drop PSW3 in favour of taking both GW3 and GW1 to allow me to fight from a longer range. But I can see where the OP is coming from. And whilst i'm not going to argue that DPS Escorts are certainly more common, Torpedo/Drain SciShips are perfectly viable, and the few I've come across in PUGs are usually a sign that the controlling player knows their stuff and is going to pull their weight - whereas seeing an Escort in a PUG team can mean anything...

(Also, Attack Pattern Beta beats Omega for anything except CC shedding. Especially when you're not soloing. And you forgot about EPTS... extra shield resistances usually beat defence if you're trying to keep your frontal weapons arc permanently pointed at the enemy)

To do this, simply switch out the SPG consoles for Shield Emitter consoles (+Shield Heal), and switch the Boffs / Doffs as per below:

Tac. Lt. - TT1 / HYT2
Eng. Lt. - EPtA / EPtS2 / A2SiF2
Eng. Lt. Cmd. - EPtA / EPtS2 / (EWP1)
Sci. Ens. - Tractor1
Sci. Cmd. - Tractor1 / TSS2 / ST3 / VM3

2xDevelopment Lab Scientists
3xEvasive Manoeuvres

Run 125S and 125A, use Evasive to keep out of trouble and your Science Team now heals for 4600/facing/15seconds!! Or 1225 HPS!! At 125A TSS2 gives 20% or so shield resistance and because of the increase in your shield healing your EPtS2 now heals yourself for nearly 3000 a time!

This turns you into an unkillable, tanky healer, with really good mobility because of the evasive manoeuvers doffs, with the added benefit of running disruptors so that your Escorts do even more damage.
had a lot of fun with this - just made 1 small change, swapped HYT2 for TS2 - along with chroniton torpedos slows multiple targets (lowering their def) and making even faster kills for the escorts!
