Slow patching in the launcher
A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
So what is the best place to slaughter things, ground/space? What is the ground mission with the most enemies?
That would be the Warp Core Engineering room on the Khitomer, (which unfortunately can only be accessed as part of the Tutorial mission). My last character that went through there collected 4 'Gold' Boxes while grinding for that 'Pharaoh of Phasers' Accolade...
I remember the post you're referring to about the 2800 missions dropping gold boxes at a higher rate, but at least in my experience the first two 2800 missions were rather thin on combat -- meaning not many opportunities for golds to drop.
At any rate, I've rolled an alt and spent the past 45min grinding borg in the khitomer engineering room using the bajoran split-beam pistol from the ds9 pack.
Tally so far: 44 green, 2 gold
Tally everywhere else for me since boxes were introduced: >200 green, 0 gold.
I've gotten lots of boxes myself, and i try to hold onto some of them, especially sine this box thing does in fact have an end date, but so far between all my toons i got like
1750 Regular boxes
1 gold box
That gold box...got that from one of the many many many targs my klingon killed in his 3rd episode mission. But then every targ i killed in that dropped a box. Also, there is a much more extinsive list of what drops boxes than what cryptic is letting on. For one thing, if you have multi-tareting boff skills, you might want to hit those when you see a formation of mines appear. Normally i ignore mines, but in this instance my shields were failing and my hull was low, so i hit fire at will and took out a formation of photon mines this gorn ship deployed. 3 of the mines dropped green boxes.
The moral of this story, if you can shoot it and kill it, you can probably get a lock box from it.
I've gotten like 6 or 7 gold boxes (but no Galor) and lots of regulars going through sectors hitting all of the enemy encounters. Since they respawn, I'll hit one complete it leave sector enter a second, then a third, then return to the first.
The thread you are looking for regarding 2800 and the more gold boxes dropped came from the Q and A.
This is true. I got a couple of boxes this afternoon from Romulan Heavy Plasma torpedoes that my scatter volley blew up en route.
Me too but I also got them from the metreon gas clouds in the Briarpatch and the fires in the mission to rescue the scientists in the Klingon strory arc.
Xylenium you would be correct if it was a true drop item that is part of the mobs normal loot table for example a personal shield, the boxes however are not part of the true loot table they are a seperate item entirely which is why we can have them drop from thing that dropped noting at all before this FE started.
As I said I got two in 4 hours of play and that is just doing the storry missions I lost count of the green ones I had drop in the same time span. On my newly created character I got one betwenn level 8 and 9 doing the peace conference quest, again how many green ones dropped I lost count of.
Even the lock box reward from the FE episode one is not going to promise you a gold box, someone chose it thinking it might be a level appropriate item like the foundry aily one, but it contained a lock box and it was an "uncommon" one at that.
