Hell its not even good to use in pvp.
What reason does it have to get a Cloaking Device? Only the Defiant and Dreadnought get cloaking devices because they had them.

The BOFF layout is the same as a Negh'var and I don't see the Klingons Complaining about that BOFF layout.

I'd rather see the Galaxy-R get 12 Bridge Officer Abilities and 9 Console Slot Upgrades. That alone will make it worth playing.

I don't understand, it has 12 BOFF abilities and 9 Console Slots?

The easiest upgrade is to build the Seperation into the ship so it's no longer a Console.

Ah, i'm thinking of the other refit, the T4 one. nvm. Yes, that would be the best option, to have the saucer seperation free and not a console.

The Klingons are probably not complaining about that layout because:
  • The Negh'var does not cost 1600 C points.
  • The Negh'var has a significantly better turn rate.
  • The Negh'var has arguably better base power level bonuses.

The Galaxy-R is unfortunately Obsolete.

This would be a little more palatable if you could get it as a free ship, but it's not cheap enough to justify how inferior it is.

Note: Using Operations Odyssey for comparison since it has the Chevron Separation which is analogous to Saucer Separation

Galaxy R Hull- 39,000
Odyssey hull- 42,000

Galaxy R Shields- 5,225
Odyssey Shields- 6,008

Galaxy R Crew- 1,000
Odyssey Crew- 2,500

Galaxy R Bridge Officers- 1 Engineer Ensign, 1 Tactical Lieutenant, 1 Science Lieutenant, 1 Engineer Lieutenant Commander, 1 Engineer Commander
Odyssey Bridge Officers- 1 Universal Ensign, 1 Tactical Lieutenant, 1 Science Lieutenant, 1 Universal Lieutenant Commander, 1 Engineer Commander

Galaxy R Consoles- 2 Tactical, 3 Science, 4 Engineering
Odyssey Consoles- 2 Tactical, 3 Science, 5 Engineering

Galaxy R Turn Rate- 6
Odyssey Turn Rate- 6

Galaxy R Inertia- 25
Odyssey Inertia- 20

The Galaxy-R is outclassed by the Odyssey in every respect, save inertia rating which seems to have a very small effect on stopping, slowing, and maybe the use of RCS consoles, but other than that serves no purpose. My Proposal: Make the Galaxy-R the Engineering version of the D'Kyr.

Proposed Galaxy-R

Hull: 39,000

Shields: 6,200

Crew: 1000

Bridge Officers: 1 Engineering Ensign, 1 Tactical Lieutenant, 1 Engineering Lieutenant, 1 Science Lieutenant Commander, 1 Engineering Commander

Consoles: 2 Tactical, 3 Science, 4 Engineering

Turn Rate: 6

Inertia Rating: 25

Power Level Bonus: +10 Shields, +5 Engines, + 5 to Auxiliary

Built In Abilities: Saucer Separation

This gives it more of a science slant, and makes it stand out more:

- It still has 9 console slots versus the Oddy's 10, But also doesn't require one for its separation ability

- No other Cruiser has a Lt. Comm Sci slot, which makes it a Cruiser version of the MVAM or D'kyr and adds another sort of hybrid ship to the game.

- Its shields are slightly better than an Oddy's but the hull is still weaker

- Bonus power levels give more of an emphasis on shields, but at a cost of weapons power

- The new Saucer will match a players weapons type, but will still always be beams, and will receive no bonus from a players weapons consoles

- The Saucer will use Hazard Emitters, and Science Team as its support abilities

I'd say that the easiest fix is to just have the Galaxy Retrofit as a Rear Admiral ship instead of Vice Admiral. It's already priced the same as other Rear Admiral ships, so just give players earlier access to it.

Exactly how they could/should fix it, though, I'm not certain. All I do know is that the Odyssey Operations cruiser does *everything* the Gal-R can do but do it much better. There's no reason for the Gal-R in the ship line-up currently.
I say, just make the cloak console interchangeable like the anti-matter spread, then you can use it on any ship you want.

On the subject of fixing the Galaxy-R, they need to make the Sauser pet tougher and deal more damage from its phasers. The other pets from Bortas, Odyssey, and Promitheas , cause real damage if unchecked. The other thing needs fixing is the shields. They are too squishy to withstand a volley from escort cannons. You spend most of your time healing your hull in PVP because the shields don't last 2 seconds.

Yeah, but their ship has better turn rate and mount's cannons. Why would they complain?

I agree, because it use to be that way when it first came out. It would give you an extra console space you could use to boost turn rate or boost shields higher with a 3 field generator.
