# 1 Tetryon Glider Questions
04-18-2012, 10:17 AM
Hi there,

Im a tactical escort looking to try out tetryon glider into my build and have some questions. This build is regarding PVP, not for PVE.

1. DCs or DHCs with tet glider? I know DHCs are more energy efficient and therefore are more damaging, but since tet glider procs 100% every hit, are DCs better than DHCs since they fire more hits (twice as many shots, however each shot doing half the damage i think)?

2. I will be using 2 pieces of Omega, 2 pieces of borg. I will use the Omega shield, but wondering whether to use the deflector or engine with it?

3. Anyone have any suggestions into which energy type would be best to use with tet glider? Remember PVP is in mind.

4. I don't believe tetryon glider damage is reduced by shield drain resists from what I've seen? Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks all in advance!

How will you know every shot triggers the drain proc?

The PvP community had these questions about all kinds of procs. Weapon procs, other procs.

We arent even sure if they are based on how many bolts you fire, or if it depends on the weapon cycles.

also we arent sure if any proc in this game (which has to be triggered by a weapon bolt/shot/cycle) is activated even if the particular shot is parried or missed.

Unless you know a definitive answer to these questions there isnt much else to base any fact on unfortunately.
Also the combat logs do not show these kind of details

This has always been a weaker point of the game, the limited amount of real details and information we get from the devs. The in-game descriptions are sometimes even worse. It got better since Season 4 but the amount of information we get from the devs is still pretty bad.

Both cannons have the same firing cycle length, so tetryon glider shield drain should be the same for both, but DHC's have +10 critical severity by default.

I personally use Borg Deflector + Borg Console and Omega Impulse Engines Omega + Shield. The Omega Impulse engines are hyper-impulse based, so they will have the highest top speeds available when your captain is optimally spec'd with max warp core efficiency + potential, not to mention engine batteries. The Omega Shields have higher recharge levels (221+ on escorts) but also good shield capacity (5700 for escorts) -- basically a borg regenerative shield without the low-cap weakness, and the occasional speed boost proc.

I personally go with Antiproton for burst damage. Unlike procs which are confined to 1 check per firing cycle, every shot is checked for critical hits.

This was supposedly fixed in the most recent patch, but I haven't had time to confirm it personally.

But dual cannon have 2 firing cycles per one Dual Heavy cannon cycle... so general dps is 2x

I use omega shield and deflector, + borg engines.
Borg engines have very nice sector space speed bonus + energy bonus to engines system (more defense), while omaga deflector increase accuracy of weapons (=more damage)

Where it is confirmed? We can test it, if you want.

Not shots fired, but actual firing cycle -- the length of time the weapon takes to shoot. Both weapons should be the same. DC's just shoot 4 bolts per firing cycle. DHC's shoot only 2, but each one is twice as powerful as a 1 DC bolt.

Yes, Borg subtranswarp engines are nice for sector space travel, but for tactical combat, Omega Hyper Impulse are much faster. No standard or combat impulse engine ship can catch you once you use an engine battery with Hyper-Impulse engines equipped. Of course, you should have maxed Warp Core Efficiency and Warp Core Potential to use Hyper-Impulse engines to best effect. You can always swap in Borg Engines while moving through sector space if you need to get somewhere else quickly.

Proc check rate is a known game mechanic, but we can test it if you like. You can actually observe it now with Tetryon Glider using the Combat logs - each DC weapon damage entry only has one number in (#) next to each weapon hit, instead of 4 separate numbers (one for each DC bolt fired in the present firing cycle).

Yes, the Tetryon Glider 100% trigger rate has to be reduced.
