Queue was a clusterfrack. We tried to start is as a private Fleet STF, but noo, you can't. Loading Map went on for 2 minutes, then asked me to start it AGAIN. So had to join the public queue and got in ONCE after 20 minutes. Then all we see is a 3 minute timer, minimum feedback, and scorpion fighters that one shot your shuttle in a full mk xi M.A.C.O set. Cool. At least make the effing map work as a private fleet action, please. I don't care about 400 people lining up for public, we have enough people in our fleet, LET US PLAY THE MISSION.
Slight update to the Blog -- "Datacores" are actually called "Reman Datalogs".
Cheers,

That's great and all, but could we get some reply to the 95% of people who have a) questioned why this is time restricted, and/or b) asking for it to be changed?
I wasn't the OP to what you're referencing, but the benefit gating affords is in controling peak-time server demands. By gating off-hours, you can control maximum server load.
That being said, not really a fan of time gating either. I'm a professional and I have a family, too. My only intention is to state the benefit, since that is what you are asking for.
Should have been more specific.
What possible benefit does it have to the player experience?
Basically, I'm sure they have their reasons, but if they are logistical or technical that's a design/programming/vision issue. As a player, I can see no benefit to us for this. If its some technical reason, they need to figure it out or don't put the content out.
It seems a bit of work went into this, and it's an utter shame that (as almost every poster has agreed) it has to be limited so. Given the reports of people who DID show up en masse, it makes even more sense to make it more available.
I must apologize for this being such a long/double post but IMO the quotes listed speak very loud.

So I wonder what is his opinion on this ''forcing'' people top play around your schedule.
The basic downfall of a MMO consist of several steps that you allready are taking:
- lack of content; ( the fact that we are all human beings, should tell you that a repetitive action done too often tends to bore people).
- easy leveling; ( at the begining you had a somehow proper leveling time; since F2P, leveling is far too quick. FACT: I have witnessed several free to play people who joined the game, leveled very fast, got bored with grinding at top level, and quitted. The ones that I observed were a large number and I'm only one man. If I take probabilities into account this is not going well for you, because they tend not to spend money, therefore a big income problem for you);
- taking the fun out of the game and turning into a race to play. ( the basic ideeea is that this is a game. this means people join for fun. lattely everybody is grinding the stf's for loot, trying to catch the defera event, etc. this is not fun. And a very important aspect that you seem to miss out: STO has a higher player base age that other MMO's ( like WOW, or others), they are at least 30+. This means they have families, jobs, and can't do their schedule according to a game.)
So hopefully I will see on ESD the 03 aniversary, but if you are keeping going this road, I doubt it.
LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!
At this rate IF there is ever a 3yr Ann. the rewards will be boxed and require keys or it will be 'timed' and 90% of the remaining player base will miss out on it

From what I could tell it takes 3 datalogs to start each of the first assignments, then 10 for each upgrade. How are we supposed to get that many when the event is only an hour long (and with a broken queue system) and only playable when YOU say so?
I must apologize for this being such a long/double post but IMO the quotes listed speak very loud.

I hope by the phrasing "Listen for his instructions..." there will be more voice over by the same actor reprising the role. It was great during the FE and I'd love to get more of it!
Shuttles: Meh.
I know many people like 'em, and God Bless 'em. Not really my thing, if I'm being honest. My biggest beef is the "hassle" I have to go through to switch ships, swap equipment, reseat my BOs, setup my power trays, etc. before a mission, then have to repeat/reverse to get back into my normal ship. My dislike of shuttles, though, could take a backseat if the mission itself were worthwhile.
New Mk XII Very Rare Ship Equipment: Cool!
I'm always keen to get new gear, especially VR Mk XII goodies. Romulan/Reman-themed to boot sounds groovy!
My only fear is this will be yet another grind fest.
Another "Currency": Fail.
Whether these are actually intended to be another currency or if they are supposed to be more like a commodity or crafting material, the fact is these Datalogs (nee Datacores) sound like yet another item we have to store in our Inventory/Banks. We were supposed to have less Currency in this game after the Dilithium Unification, but we keep getting more and more. And storage space in this game is too limited to be introducing another cell-filling "currency".
Scheduled Event: EPIC FAIL!!!
This is a deal-breaker for me guys. I'm an adult with work, family, friends, etc. I do not plan my life around a game's schedule. I play when I'm available to do so and when I am, I want to do what I want to do. (I am afterall, the paying customer!) If I feel like playing an STF, I do that. If I feel like replaying an old mission, I do that. When I want to RP, perform character maintenance (dailies, DOffing, make Exchange posts, etc.), PvP, and so on - I do those things. Whatever I am in the mood for.
Please consider the nearly unanimous feedback in this thread. Put a "daily" (or less/longer, as you see fit) cooldown if you feel you really must limit the content's availability. Put some kind of "Bonus Rewards" Event in place (as you do with the STFs, Crafting, Mining, etc.) -- Those are fine, great even -- But, please don't lock content behind your convenience.
Mirror and Defera hold little interest to me because they aren't scheduled when I'm available and feel like doing them.
Looks like this new content will also be wasted for me. THUMBS DOWN TO SCHEDULED-ONLY EVENTS!

On another note Branflakes - any thought of doing a rerun of the reman episodes? it would be a nice tie in to the new vault stf and there are plenty of new players who have never had a chance at the reman boff (despite during the mission text one of the remans on the ice base saying they would maybe like to join starfleet - my hopes were raised and dashed when i realised that was the original run/rerun reward). Since starting playing STO I have to say I enjoy the episode "theme" of the missions but I have yet to see a single proper rerun - let's face it if you turn on the TV you can watch pretty much any series of any version of Star Trek at any time of the day or night. I expected the same in the game. Unfortunately this hasn't been the case so far.
Agreed, Re-runs need to be Much more frequent, there are sooo many players that are not able to obtain the 'extra' items from these FE's both new AND old players, its quite sad....

So here's how it goes...
Have to be on when it's available.
Have to hope the queue is small enough that you get in at a reasonable time. While YOU JUST SIT THERE IN A FREAKING SHUTTLE NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE.
Have to hope your team is not stupid and can complete mission.
Have to hope you get a drop of the data (?)
Have to hope that your Doff can SUCCESSFULLY complete the mission and get you something after you FINALLY get enough datachip things! Imagine the Doff failing and WASTING the days (weeks?) of effort you just put into it!
So essentially you will be doing this freaking thing forever and probably for nothing.
And I thought the mining event was a waste of time.
Cryptic why do you have to make these things such an uber-grind?
Hell, it's worse than a grind, cause you have to get lucky to EVEN do the mission!
Why does Cryptic continue to do stuff that makes their customers mad?
After so many frustrating events, I'm beginning to think they do it on purpose!
Either up the reward amount to offset the rarity of being able to do the mission
OR
Make the event time like the "Path to 2409" where you get extra rewards during that time, but mission is available at all times!

Remove the timers/times from everything at let the players choose what they want to do.
People blame noobs for failing elite stf's all the time. The noobs are not at fault (they can only learn through experience), the mechanics are (forcing a person to wait for a fail beyond their control). Congrats cryptic, you just extended the problem to new content, and made it far worse at the same time.

These new cores, are they a random drop or something you will get every time on every player?
I also assume that our old shield earned in the standard reword for completing a mission are not going to count towards being a set. I see XII.
Now.
I add my name to those against these time limits. Both in when you can play it and what sounds like hidden time limits. Limits within limits. A game should fit a players schedule, not the other way around. If this were like the STA or crafting time then no problem. It is not.
I also rather wish you had kept to the already used standard for getting the shield for the other parts. Let me decide if I wanted to risk another try at teaming.
Rather disappointing.

After everything that has been said here that is all you can say???!!!.........................
The above quotes are just a small example of what this game is turning into & it is a more often than not outlook that is being shared by more and more players both old and new, we ask for 'X' they give us 'X +/- Y' that requires either cash or us to 'cater' to their wants. The players of this game are more often than not 25+yrs old and have lives, as such we DO NOT enjoy being to be told when we can relax and what we can do with our free time...
How would you DEVS like it if you were told that your able to get a new piece of equipment to work with but you have to be to work at 5am mon, 6am wed & 2 am fri, and you then have to complete 5 other tasks for a chance at a ticket and only once you get 15 tickets do you get the equipment, i know well and good it wouldnt fly, so why the hell are you doing it to us?!?!?
But in actuality none of this really makes any difference at all whatsoever as the 'ones' (not including my actual words) who are behind everything we have, get and do in this game now DO NOT give a rat what we think and will do what 'they' want regardless.
The bad decisions being made concerning this game are getting bigger and worse all the while the good in the game is getting ignored.
If the current 'mindset' is maintained it will be a miracle for STO to see year 3..
I for one am completely disgusted by what is being done to the game and by the serious lack of listening to the players, with out us there is no game, continuing to irritate and anger the players is quite simply BAD BUSINESS, give the players ALL THE PLAYERS an equal opportunity to take part in and collect the rewards of ANY AND ALL content and i guarantee that it will not only make us happy but give us a reason to want to play THIS game and not something different, and thus we will ALL be more willing to spend money on C-STORE items (the afore mentioned rewards) and ( not those hellspawn insult to our intelligence keys/boxes you FORCE upon us).
Its clear, you are biting the hand that feeds you, stop......

Making a team and joining the team into the queue worked perfectly. At least with 2 fed players and puging the rest.
