I'm actually looking forward to there being a penalty for repeated deaths.

So so much complaining and crying that the sky is falling since it showed up in the Tribble PN has tickled me pink. The majority seemingly ignoring that it's only short term repeat offenders that get penalized. And that it does reset.

I'm hoping this will teach players to:
  1. Pay attention to your surroundings and your teammates.
  2. Ignoring everything so you can lolol[Spacebar]lol[Spacebar]lololol. Get popped. Respawn. And flying back over and over again does not equal making things faster.
  3. Loading your ship with nothing but offensive powers and consoles, having no armor and/or at least one self shield or hull heal to use in emergency does not equal making things faster.
  4. If you don't want to tank something, stop being selfish and heal the player that is. They die, you could be it's next focus.
  5. Don't spawn enemies that you can't handle on your own. Or have no intention to engage. (See No2)
  6. You do no DPS when you're dead. (See No2, No3)

While what I've listed should be common sense, it's surprising through experience how it actually isn't.

Yes, learning is part of the game. However, i find that this change will encourage players both old and new to be more aware and apply proper tactics with regards to aggro, healing and teamwork instead of letting themselves get blown up so they can jump right back in 10 seconds later. I'm also pretty sure new players would have picked up some knowledge of how to boldly run away while levelling from both missions and fleet actions(unless they got from 7 to 44 solely by doffing).

The first few runs for newer players will likely be rougher than current, no doubt. But once they've had the respawn timer run up on them a few times, they SHOULD figure out that their tactics aren't working and change tacks. In the long run, this change can only lead to an improvement in average skills of the playerbase.

Oddly enough, I'm okay with respawn timers, giving players a reason to stay alive and improve one's skill. But why NOW and not after those invisible torpedoes of doom get fixed? Who the *bleep* seriously thought this was a GOOD idea?

Strange enough I remember a previous patch note saying they fixed the 1 shot kills.

Still waiting.

Not sure why people are complaining LOL. They let us know that the servers were going to be down between 0600-1000 pst. If you were still planning on doing stuff during that time it's really kinda your problem.

Hi Captains,

The lack of in-game messaging prior to the start of maintenence was unintentional. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
