And the biggest recipients of the down side of the timer will be Tacs in Escorts. Yes, the highest dps class is a glass cannon, and usually the most likely to die. So a Tac dies, he has to wait to respawn, the whole dps for the STF suffers and it becomes less and less likely to reach an optional.

Or here's the other end, the Tac dies once and decides, hell with it, I'll take it easy and lay back so I will survive. It creates a dead weight situation, as well as being another functional overall dps nerf since the Tac won't go bawls to the wall anymore.

So, just from that aspect the timer is a bad idea. Think about how it affects a group when a tanking Engi/Cruiser combo has to wait to respawn and the rest of the group dies as a result. No Engi to take threat, the whole group goes up.

Yeah, not good.

And don't even get me started on the ridiculous changes to KA Ground. What a nightmare.

And rightly so, because before, using anything else but an escort in STFs was, well, not really rewarded.

I'm starting to think the respawn penalty should be based on damage done to you.

For each damage penalty you haven't repaired the penalty increase.

White 15 Seconds Each
Yellow 30 Seconds Each
Red 45 Seconds Each

It's only a penalty if you don't repair.

The timer on the stf is not a bad idea but 3 mins is a bit to much IMO the should make the max time 1 min not 3. And if your keep getting killed that much u make up the hole 3 mins then you might need to look at your build to find away of improving your build to take a bit more damage. It's all part of learning. I fly a bop I tend to fly out of range if all my heals are on cool down for a few second to let the Borg change target then get back in to the fight. But that don't all ways work.

Your statement is not true.
Yes we have the fire power, but on the other end of the stick we are squishy.
Us escorts can be annihilated if we don't have a few tanks with threat control soaking up damage.

With the drop rates being what they are, no one was "really rewarded" properly in those things. They have always been worth skipping. Unless you like the mission or the story they're just a waste of time and energy. Doing them dozens or even hundreds of times? This ain't Molten Core. The items aren't essential to end-game raid progression of guilds.

So you're saying it's okay to penalize a particular class because of your personal perceptions of the rewards? I don't think the loot tables ever rewarded one class more than any other. All classes are grindinding STFs for EDC and borg salvage/tech drops. I don't see any of those as being class specific.

As someone else stated, escorts provide the biggest dps at the expense of being the most fragile of ships. Somehow I don't think Engis or Scis can fill the gap in the dps loss. To this point I haven't seen it and I doubt even you can prove me wrong on this one.

Funny thing is THEY made DPS king, Made it the only way to get it done. They put the timers on the optional, meaning you want more DPS. They made the drop rate so low that you would be forced to repeat the grind over and over, meaning you'd want to get it done, faster, meaning, MORE DPS. They they do what they did to Sci putting them in a bad spot as far as being able to help the team, devaluing them to encourage, MORE DPS.

They then, penalize DPS, for doing what THEY designed.

THEY, did it, and THEY put them blame on the players.

anyone see a trend yet?
