What's more annoying is the limited time we have to do this and the amount completed required to make a full MK XII very rare set.....

Communication does help, but it's not particularly necessary in the case that nobody listens. It only really takes one person to interact with all of the different things. The tractor turrets are easily thwarted with polarize hull, or two photon torpedoes. You can get around being shot up a lot by the BoP in the Reactor room by flying beneath the generator. You shouldn't have too much trouble provided there's at least two people by Obisek in the Thaleron Projector room(though I can't imagine where else the team would be).

Sorry, I forgot about the upgrading. You get the Mark XI for the first turn in (Deflector and Engine), which will work with the Mark XI shield you get from "Coliseum". After that, you can upgrade each piece individually through the Engineering Doff missions to get Mark XII.

Boldly Grinding where so many others have grinded before.
This other thread about the Vault has the stats on the set pieces

The BoPs don't spawn that often, unless you team isn't taking them out, and the scorpion cloaking is actually to your advantage, as long as your using either deploy-able turrets or Torpedo Spread. Even if you have neither, you wipe out the scorpions faster when they start to or come out of cloak then if they just swarmed around.

Thanks for the guide.

Just some info on the upgrades. To fully upgrade into a Very Rare mark XII complete set, you will need 96 datacores. That's 6 to make the mark XI engines and deflector (3 each). Then 30 to upgrade them to Mark XII rare (10 each), then 60 to upgrade them to Very Rare (20 each).

Personally, I think this is worse than the STFs in terms of the amount of time it's going to take to get the set. I don't mind a grind, but with the event being time gated, I can't even grind it. They really should make this event always available, but give it a cooldown or something.

Actually, the total datalogs needed would be 96. The very rare set is only 20 datalogs each:

Also, if you get a Eureka! success in the assignment, you also get 5 datalogs back.

As for the time needed... I can definitely see how it would be hard for a lot of people. In my case, the planets came into alignment and I've been able to do the event twice a day (except for the ones that appear at 2 or 3 in the morning >.< ). So I'm well on my way, but even from rare -> very rare will take some time. Overall less grind than STF gear, but still a grind.

Thanks for the correction. I'll edit my post. But I think it's still gonna take a loooong time to get unless they increase the time the event runs.

You'd think considering they have this timed slot machine farce of a set, they'd make the STF space gear easier to get...since it's no longer the NEW thing

A few things that I've found helpful on this mission:

1. Bring along a ship with [acc]x3 beam arrays and FaW 1 to slaughter enemy fighters.
2. Bring along about one ship with a torpedo & High Yield 1 for unshielded targets
3. Bring along a science captain so that you can sub-nuke the RSP on the D'Deridex Defender
4. Have a couple craft with Dual Beam Banks and Beam Overload to quickly eliminate the warbirds.

You can also get a [Phaser Beam Array Mark XI - S][Acc][CtrH] as a reward from the original Vault mission which is better than the standard -S shuttle array.
