On a side note: I remember someone doing the math early and and showing it would take over 90-years to do these missions in "real time" once you factor in travel time.
Er...

Don't most MMOs pretty much sequence times by zone?

So that, for example, it's pretty much always early 2409 at ESD and always late 2409 in, say, Gamma Orionis?

And a new zone could be added where it's always 2410 even though it goes back to 2409 when you go back to ESD...

I always assumed the time you are in depends where you are in the chain of missions. All the missions are in a chain that covers 2 years and ongoing. Near the start of the mission chain is 2409, at the point when DS9 is taken over by 1000ís of ships then you are at 2411.

In game time might only be a few weeks but that way your promotions make a litlte more sence.

I look past this continuity error by considering it to be 2412 in game. Repeating old missions is just a holodeck exercise.

This is a good way to look at it.

We're in Beta still, so 2409.

The in-game time is 2412 though.

^ this

No MMO progresses it's ingame world in anything resembling real time. That would be just insanity.

Also, you guys should be glad you're not playing LOTRO - time has only progressed like 3 weeks in Middle Earth since launch 5 years ago

We were told awhile back by Stahl that CBS has to approve it being anything other than 2409 and they haven't yet.

And after 23 seasons on air, Bart Simpson is still 9 years old. . .
